Can anyone confirm that?
That part is definitely false. The round a player is picked in has no baring on compensation picks, only RFA tenders (such as Dwyer being tendered the round-selected (or whatever the language is) amount meaning that had he signed elsewhere the Steelers would have had the right to match it or receive a 6th rounder for Dwyer, meanwhile Redman was signed to the same type of tender but wasn't eligible for compensation...that being because Dwyer was a 6th round pick while Redman was a UDFA).

It's some complicated system involving losing players worth more than what you signed...considering the Steelers are going to be non-factors in free agency and Wallace signed a huge deal it's pretty obvious that he'll be one of the first compensation picks given out. The primary weight on those comp picks is contract amount, so I doubt Mendenhall will fetch us a high pick...though I could see us getting something like a 5th or 6th rounder for him depending on performance.

I'm not a fan of overpaying in UFA. I actually don't disagree with their build through the draft and plug small holes in UFA strategy but you have to draft well to make it work. They need to start finding more impact players in their draft classes. You get your impact guys in the draft and your cheap pluggers in UFA.

Denver is a best team in AFC. I don't see any other team close to Denver.

watched his bowl game and he goes up and attacks the ball in the air. not at all like wallace, and i'm one of his backers

as well as, how much they sign for with their new team. the playing time they get, the production they put up etc etc etc

So the Steelers lost out on Alexander and Fokou.

2 backup middle linebackers who are good special teams players.

Danny Amendola to the Pats.

Wes Welker 2.0. Won't lose a beat with this kid.

Predictable. It's been rumored for days he was the Patriots fallback plan if Welker left.

Wes Welker went to the Broncos for $6M a year, the Pats signed Amendola $6.1M a year, talk about a slap in the face.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the structure to those deals are but on the surface it looks like a slap in the face. I heard Brady was pretty pissed about it but I'm guessing the Patriots just wanted to get younger.

Draft related - Steelers showing interest in a couple Spartans.
Quote:
EAST LANSING -- Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin sure seems to like Michigan State players.

A year after taking quarterback Kirk Cousins out to dinner on the eve of MSU's pro day, Tomlin did the same Tuesday night, dining in East Lansing with running back Le'Veon Bell and tight end Dion Sims. The Steelers didn't draft Cousins, of course, but Bell and Sims both would seem to be options for a team that plays a hard-nosed, physical style like the Spartans do.

I'm not upset about losing any players in FA so far. Some truly unlikeable players gone. Good riddance.

Bell is a lot like Mendenhall - he has a ton of talent but likes to dance too much and doesn't play as big as he is.

He might be the most talented running back in this draft to be honest but I'm skeptical of how good he'll be considering he doesn't play as big as his frame would suggest.

Le'Veon Bell is projected to be 3rd-4th rounder. He ran 4.56 in 40. Not bad for a guy weighs 230.

Too much for a guy who is injury prone. I guess Pats were desperate for a receiver.

There used to be a couple guys like that per team that would be good for an interview here and there, but now look how many people speak like Taylor, Brown, Wallace, etc. It's quite ubiquitous across the league.
I always think of a guy like Porter. He was a huge loudmouth, and constantly caused rifts with his mouth. Fact is, his mouth was purely football related, and he'd back his mouth up.

"They shot me in Denver!" - what more could you say to fire up a locker-room?
