Former Cowboys OLB Victor Butler will visit the Steelers on Thursday... and will likely leave once he finds out they're only offering NFL minimum wage. He's apparently got other teams interested so I doubt he signs for the minimum.
I read somewhere (less than reputable probably) that Steven Jackson is getting close/very interested in signing with Green Bay. That'd be just unfair.
Yeah, I don't know how that would work. He's obviously a great weapon but he's right around the age that RB's start to break down and that's an offense in Green Bay that doesn't exactly feature the running game since they have a dominating QB. Makes sense though. Green Bay is one of those win now teams. A veteran like Jackson could put them over the top.
Colts just signed former Jets S LaRon Landry. I've always liked Landry as a player.
The Steelers had running back Beanie Wells in for a physical this week. Wells, drafted in the first round by Arizona in 2009 from Ohio State, was released Monday by the Cardinals. His career, as with Mendenhall's, has been pocked with injuries, particularly to both knees.
I feel like Dwyer is hugely underrated. When our offensive line was competent (re: when Colon played), he showed some very good skills and was quite productive. I have no issue at all with him and Redman (when healthy) being the feature backs. Batch can be the 3rd down back until something better comes along (he at least blocks well).
I got ridiculed when I questioned Colbert a few years ago. I think he's a guy that is sitting on the 2002 and 98 draft and has safety. I can't think of many drafts that have killed it since then w/ big time players.
Obviously too early to tell, but I think last year's draft was good for the Steelers. DeCastro and Adams were solid, we didn't get to see Sean Spence or Ta'amu, Rainey was good but he was released after his arrest. Paulson looks like a decent TE.
It'll be interesting to see the numbers on the Lewis deal. If it isn't a huge contract that's probably pretty telling that the Steelers think Allen can do the job just as good. Time will tell.
I'd sign Wells. There's really nothing to lose by taking a look at him since the money is going to be minimal. You never know what a change of scenery will do for a player. Bears fans claimed for years that Cedric Benson ran like a ballerina but then he went to Cincinnati and became a heck of a RB for a while.
God damnit. Why didn't we sign Keenan? Whatever. All the Pats, Broncos, Ravens, (you know, the teams competing for championships every season in the AFC) do is pass the ball. Not excited about Beanie either.
Gay gets to cover Welker! YES SOOOOO confident in that matchup.
