Massive personality clash as well. Craft the cool kid who never gets rattled vs. the arrogant dick in Henderson.

I'm a little surprised Pitt is so content with Jaime Dixon. Good regular season Big East coach that can't recruit and can't win in the tournament. That leaves a lot to be desired but last time they tried to fire a coach to take the next step with one of their programs was the Wanny debacle and they still haven't recovered from that circus.

Yeah, it'll be interesting how will Pitt do in ACC next year. They're in same division with Duke and UNC.

It will be interesting. Who knows if Dixon's style of ball is going to work in that conference. It's very different from the Big East.

He needs talent to compete with Duke and UNC. He has to adjust his coaching.

It might help his recruiting because the fact they play Duke and UNC twice a year may appeal to recruits. I dunno.

He certainly redeemed himself with a few big shots down the stretch. It looked like he was going to be the goat at one point after a rough stretch where he missed two huge free throws, had a horrendous turnover and a terrible foul away from the ball.

edit: CH nailed it.

I don't know who Aaron Craft is, and I refuse to take the 5 seconds it would take to learn.

He goes to anOSU so it's not like you'll ever hear of him again anyway.

I think he recruited way better earlier in his tenure. I liked when he was a young coach because he developed guys who weren't highly sought after. IMO, that's what you need to college basketball. Have guys who can stick around for 3-4 years. He hasn't landed another Dejuan Blair though, but he has landed 4 star recruits year after year.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. They signed 3 defensive linemen so far. They didn't sign any linebackers or secondary. It made me wonder if they switch to 4-3.

Simon reportedly ran a 4.62 in the 40 yard dash, had a 34 inch vertical 10'1" broad jump. Did 3-cone drill in 7.1 seconds.

According to scouts, Simon looked quick and fluid during his drills. Even surprised some people with his ability to drop and catch the ball.
Hell yeah Simon!

Pretty much every guy I had pegged as 2nd or 3rd round picks have creeped up into the 1st/2nd round pick range. Mainly Pugh and Trufant.

I think they meant Atomkraft. A little vintage steel.

No surprise here. There had been some talk that Harrison was open to coming back but...
Quote:
Bill Parise, Harrison’s agent, said on Monday that he “has a couple things going on” with teams in the NFL. However, the Steelers are not one of them and let Harrison know over the weekend they have decided to go with others at his old position at right outside linebacker.

Pro Days: Steelers' GM might see Harrison clone in Buckeyes' Simon

Quote:
Reports have surfaced that the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year might be willing to return to Pittsburgh, but general manager Kevin Colbert has never been one to wait for replacement options and, judging by his appearance Monday at a private workout for Ohio State pass rusher John Simon, Harrison may have waited too long.

Colbert was the headliner among representatives from 12 teams at Simon's workout, according to a report from NFL.com's Gil Brandt.

-----------

Quote:
“We try to look at everything,” said LeBeau, who played both ways at Ohio State under Woody Hayes before starring as a defensive back with the Detroit Lions.
Quote:
“This is a player who has done whatever was necessary to get on the field. It's still going to be what we're going to be asking him to do, so those are all pluses for him.”

At 6-1, 257 pounds, Simon is a little undersized for an NFL defensive end, even in a 4-3 scheme. Fortunately, the league is changing. Defenses are playing less base and more package-oriented schemes that require versatile football players who do a multitude of things when they’re on the field.

“I think he has flexibility,” LeBeau added.

“I think there's several areas that he could work at, such as a third down pass rushing package with the energy that he imparts. He's got a record of finding a way to get things done.”

Huge disappointment if we don't draft him, He's a Steelers kind of player.
