I thought it happened a lot in the Cowher era but I was younger and didn't pay as much attention to that sort of thing. Maybe my memory is wrong about that.

Post on Mark Madden's facebook (who I'm not friends with, but my friend shared it, and it is pretty true, IMO).

Quote:
Steelers need to work a lot harder on being liked. It will come in handy when they go (6-10). This is the least likeable Steelers team ever.

Antonio Brown tweeted, "It's hard being rich young n black ! I got to coupe with that."

Yes, I don't know how you "coupe." Illiterate asshat. Just what do you think when you read stuff like that?

Help me out posters Im not as big into football as hockey.

Worlids(sp?) Foote Timmons Woodley
Who else do we have at LB with Sylvester gone(?), Spence hurt, Harrison gone etc.

It seems like we really need Safeties and Linebackers both as backups now and as future starters. Plus now we need a running back most likely. Maybe/Probably a cornerback(?) depending on Lewis. How accurate is that?
And at what point do the Steelers draft a project Quarterback? Or they just sticking with veterans you think?

I find that with a lot of the football players now. It just seems a huge disconnect. Guys like Fitz, Brady, etc. really used to be focal points of the media. Now with social media, it seems all the attention is to the players who used to stay quiet, but now post crap like Brown. That's just embarrassing.

There used to be a couple guys like that per team that would be good for an interview here and there, but now look how many people speak like Taylor, Brown, Wallace, etc. It's quite ubiquitous across the league.

I agree with a lot of your points. Steelers top needs in my opinion:

1. Safety x2 - Troy & Clark are approaching the downsides of their career. Too many injuries.
2. Corners - Ike is getting older and we (probably) can't afford to keep Lewis. In a pass-happy league, let's have a strong first line of defense.
3. QB - How many (effective) seasons can Ben really have left? He gets hurt every year (multiple recurring injuries). I really think his career could be over within 2 seasons and we have nothing in the waiting. Other teams, even ones with elite qbs, draft qbs every other year and develop them from within. Let's try that. Batch and Leftwich can barely make it through one series and stay healthy.

OLB and DB seem to be the top two needs.

I still think a WR to replace Wallace is needed, but with what is on the roster - Brown, Sanders, Cotchery, Burress - I don't know how much PT the guy would get, and the Steelers are in the position of needing rookies who can contribute immediately, as opposed to prior years.

I really like Deandre Hopkins from Clemson. From the Wallace mold. Probably available around our 2nd round pick.
But if he's going to be behind all 4 of those guys, I'm not sure how much value he holds for the 13-14 season, when there are other holes to be filled.

I really like Texas S Kenny Vaccaro as a 1st rounder. He fills the need of depth/eventual replacement at S, and can play as a slot cover guy as well.

RB is a need, but probably not much difference between the guy you get in round 2 and round 4. If the OL plays as their talent level indicates, that will make the RBs look better.

Montee Ball in the 3rd round or Marcus Lattimore in the 4th/5th come with some warts, but still better than anything currently on the roster.

OLB...dream scenario is Jones falls to 17. But given medical clearance now, I don't see how that happens.

Dunno much about the Steelers position needs, but it seems like they got sucked into the FA drama and bs the rest of the league is involved in and it hurt the teams culture. Guess it's a sign of the times now that the league is all offense.

What about MLB? Who do we even have now as backups and we need someone to play next to Timmons for the future.
OLB(s), MLB, Safety(2), RB and maybe CB
Is my very amateur opinion. WR can probably wait.

MLB Moise Fokou is visiting the Steelers.

We also have Sean Spence (2012 3rd round pick) people seem to forget about him since he was injured in preseason.

No I listed him above. But wasnt his knee injury so bad his future is in question?
Also did we cut Sylvester?

I guess theres also Chris Carter??

Did we fully cut ties with Ta'amu or not? I was never clear on that.

Oh, okay, didn't see your post above.

I don't believe the Steelers cut Sylvester, I could be wrong.

Yes there is always Chris Carter.

No, the Steelers still have Ta'amu, he was on the practice squad last season, I don't think they want to get rid of him, I think I read that they feel they have a responsibility to help him learn from his drunk driving mistake. I think he stays with little to no room for error off the field.

I think the Steelers will draft a LB, and they have interest in signing one (Moise Fokou visiting), he's a good depth option/special teams player.

Welcome to the Steelers Bruce Gradkowski!

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Steelers reached agreement on a three-year deal with former Bengals QB Bruce Gradkowski.

everyone knows Gradkowski is from Pitt. Not thrilled with the signing because he is old

Steelers should sign Bernard Pollard. He is a beast

...He's younger than Roethlisberger

Steelers want to bring TE Kellen Davis in for a visit, big guy from the Bears, they wanted him last offseason.

EDIT:

Steelers cut Willie Colon.

If Batch isn't ready to retire, I would re-sign him as a 3rd string QB, like someone mentioned, he's essentially a QB coach, but he can still play. He could be good insurance as a 3rd string QB if Ben and Bruce can't play.

true but their major cap problems i would just say screw it and make him the WB coach. Paying Batch the vet minimum is like double what they have to pay a young guy. Can easily save over half a million there
