Gotta figure a way to keep him around, I would hope. Decisions on both sides there.

With Sylvester gone, we need some help for special teams. Alexander fills our need for special teams and a depth for LB if he decides to sign with Steelers.

I like Gradkowski signing.

He would be an upgrade over Pope, I think. He's a big target.

He really did nothing in 3 years. In the past 2, he either was hurt, or was holding on special teams.

DVE (I think) this morning mentioned Lorenzo Alexander visiting. LB/ST guy from the Redskinds. Which makes a ton of sense, given the new ST coach was in Washington last year. He's played some D snaps too, 34 tackles and 2.5 sacks last year.

ETA - looks like I was typing about Alexander at the same time.

We really need TE depth even when Miller gets healthy but especially considering he isn't healthy. Not sure if Kellen Davis is the right fit but beggars can't be choosers given the cap situation. I did see Davis get booed off the field in Chicago multiple times last season though.

I am more excited to see David Paulson, and watch yinzers chant "HEAAAAAATH!" in preseason game 1.

Batch's only negative as a 3rd QB option. I'll never understand that CBA inclusion from the NFLPA's point of view...it causes so many still-capable players to stay unemployed because teams aren't willing to shell out that kind of money for back-ups/vet special teamers.

Surprised it's only 1 year contract for Mendy. I guess he has a lot of prove that he can be a consistent RB.

Seems that way.

Hard to tell if this Lewis/Saints thing is even serious. He's a Louisiana kid so it's just a small drive away for him. He could just be doing this to try to stir up more interest or maybe he just wants the experience of visiting with his hometown team. Who knows. People also say the Saints aren't in the greatest cap situation. They've had to restructure guys to get under themselves and are likely looking for UFA bargains. You'd have to think the Steelers could keep Lewis if it came down to a bargain type of contract unless he just wants to play back home.

It's interesting Mendy decided on signing with AZ. I guess he figured fumbling would have less consequences there than in Denver.

Saints defense was worst in NFL last year. I wouldn't go to NO for a bargain deal if I were Lewis, even though it's his hometown.

Bernard Pollard was just released. Ravens defense suddenly look bad.

Reggie Bush signed with Detroit. Great move for Lions. They definitely upgrade their running game.

Heard Stan Savran mention getting a compensatory pick for Wallace on ESPN radio. I didnt realise the NFL had compensation picks.

We'll receive one in 2014. They're based on salary and production from the player.

Without getting into the details, we'll almost definitely be getting a 3rd round pick.

The NFL's compensation pick system is weird and seemingly almost random...but there's no way Wallace doesn't bring back the max allowed - a 3rd round pick in 2014.

Looks like Welker to the Broncos is almost a done deal. I love it.

The Pats didn't look like the Pats when they were sitting Welker and being petty towards him.

I know it won't slow them down entirely but it definitely hurts their team.

I think I read that the Steelers would get a 2014 compensation pick for Mendenhall as well. That was long before he was signed.

If you lose a player that you took in the 1st round, you get a 3rd or a 4th.

Can anyone confirm that?
