This is something I was thinking too. 2nd period coming and we normally do bad but really we should look to add to our lead and we should be fine I reckon. No way we let another lead slip.

only way that'll happen is if Geno is out for an extended time, Kunitz goes colder than the ice cream that's been in my fridge for the last year and if we go to an all 5 forward PP

Seriously, has Beau ever shown himself to be a defensive liability at all? He's got Letang out there for ****'s sake.

Bennett has been great, but still hoping that eventually the numbers start to follow. Would be nice to see him get some recognition league-wide.

Intent shouldn't matter with any penalty, opens up a can of worms. Players saying, "but ref! I didn't mean to hook him!"

Point per game since moving to the second line.

A penalty could be clear as day, and some folks would still cry foul.

I'm more impressed by Bennett's board play and battling than his skills. The guy seems to win a lot of 50-50 battles. I figured he'd have skills to make plays and he does, but that means little in the NHL if you don't battle.

Just wondering, but can Beau Bennett still win the calder cup when he goes off in the playoffs and dominates?

If a goalie whacked his rebound out of the air over the glass would you not want a delay of game penalty?

Is control necessary for that penalty? And if it is, how is it determined? For example, if that had been a bouncing puck and he played it the same way, i.e. shot it hard and high, wouldn't that be a delay of game? So the fact that it was sailing through the air and not bouncing seems pretty arbitrary, since it's the fact that he batted the puck that resulted in it leaving play.

Only if he does it in the AHL.

I'm pretty sure the Calder Trophy is based on regular season performance though.

Is Letang just trolling his teammates with those in-the-skates passes on the PP. It's almost like he does it on purpose

He can't have possession of the puck in the air. especially when the puck is coming in his direction (as opposed to with his direction) You saying he had control of the puck and could have done whatever he wanted with it is just wrong.

I still see the play as a deflection out of play, the refs saw it different it happens, lets move on.

Let us hope that Dan Bylsma does not scratch Deryk Engelland against the Bruins. Impressive start by the Penguins.

Complete 180 from his start of the season in WB.
I attributed his good play versus the Habs to playing against a smaller lineup but then the Philly game happened.
He's physically gotten healthier and stronger during this season. Theres no doubt.

The numbers are more than solid for a 21 year old rookie with limited opportunities to this point.

Nah, ineligible. He's not an AHL team. /beingadick

And for the Calder Trophy, playoffs don't matter.

I should think so (though I haven't read the actual rule to know), otherwise any deflection could be ruled a penalty because it doesn't matter if you control it or not, it touched you.
