I doubt they drop down to 6-8th in the east. At worse 4.

Won't waste my time here. Martin sure had something to do with that ''amazing powerplay'' and the important wins during the playoffs.

Mind over matter. A good coach/management, can take almost any team or player, and make them into contenders. Eller has to be the biggest improvement too, for the first time in his career, he looks confident.

They even have our backup, Budaj, playing like a starter. This season, I can say, I'm proud to be a Habs fan, not because of our position in the conference, but because the team more importantly is playing with effort, and you can never fault effort, win or lose.
we are much improved but not for reel YET ..

our D is slightly better than average overall , Markov is a pp specialist and not a great 5/5 player .

we will get beat up in a 7 game series against Boston

we need more size on the top 6 , and at some point Gio, DD , will be phased out

2 studs in the making in the G kids and potential good d in the minors

we arent a first place team , and next year in an 82 game season we will crop to where we belong 5-6th in the conference

The best description regarding Martin's coaching philosophy.

Regarding East vs West, there is no way anyone can say that the West is better than the East this season. No games have been played against each other.

It will be competitive in the SC Finals regardless of what two teams are there.

Wich is very solid actually. People need to tame down a little their expectations IMO. Everything is bonus this year, and even if we lose in the first round, it's still a solid season to build on.

Can't be mad if we have an early exit in the playoffs, most people thought we would not even make it to the dance and that includes our own fanbase. But something tells me, fans are already expecting contender like results in the playoffs and that would not be fair, for the players and the coaching staff, who all stated that this year is a building one and no insane expectations. But hey it's Montreal after all and passion rules the thing.

Bazinga!

Also, we ARE the real deal. MB is probably freaking out looking at how fast things have turned around. If he chooses to be a buyer come trade deadline it could bite him in the ass and if he goes with the "I'm happy with what we have in place" approach and we get bounced late in the playoffs he may look back and think he should have pulled the trigger.

It's still a pretty good situation to be in, I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

Yes some players have matured, yes we have some of the pieces healthy but the puck possession and more importantly pursuit of this years team >>>>> last years.

I dont know if its directly attributible to Therrien or Bergy, but I dont care. I can now watch games where we carry the lead into the third and not expect us to play passive and wait for the sword to fall.

No, we are not. Our defense is shaky and we suck at faceoffs. Also, start hitting our dmen(except Subban) and they start coughing up pucks like someone has the stomach virus.

Although I don't always agree with him, Vincent Damphousse made a good point on L'Antichambre yesterday: you can't be afraid to talk about the Stanley Cup, especially when you're doing well. Like Carbonneau said, you don't always get a chance to win it, so when you do consider yourself a contender, you gotta try to go for it.

With that in mind, I'm really interested in seeing what MB will do. Nobody wants him to sell the farm for upcoming UFA Perry, but he's gotta do something to further improve the team (and I'm pretty sure he will).

I thought this comment was under RC.

Anyway JM was better than RC.

Putting an inexperienced coach at the head of team mid season was a way to tank. I read a study (behindthenet maybe) showing that putting an inexperience coach mid season was a recipe for disaster...
Al McNeil, Dan Bylsma say hi.

We are a great team, and half the season thus far shows it. There are games we could have/should have won and a couple bad games in there too, but that's just hockey.

That being said, I'm just glad the team's doing well this year. The playoffs, if we get there (I don't wanna jinx anything) will just be gravy on the potatoes. I'm not going to think they have a real shot at the cup until Gionta is not touching (or touching, ala Crosby) the Prince of Wales Trophy.
