As the title says.

Most Ranger fans seem to think so. Wondering if this is observation bias, or if it reflects reality.

edit: To clarify I mean opposing backup goalies.

The Rangers do tend to do that. Probably to make Lundqvist look better if the Rangers win.

Phoenix and Nashville are pretty good at making bad/average goalie looks awesome.

Bryzgalov, Smith and Lindback are all goalies that didn't have much sucess playing on other teams.

Either I don't understand the question or you don't.
If I understand correctly, yes. The Wild don't score many goals no matter who the goalie is for the other team.

Sens have been shutout by Ellis, Montoya, and Scrivens this year.

Should have been less ambiguous. I meant opposing backup goalies.

previous years this has been my thought every game for the Leafs. This year however, Leafs have chewed up some backups and don't see many.

Canucks lost to the Flames' 4th string goalie (not Kipper, Irving, or Macdonald), whose name I can't even recall.

The kings in the previous 2 years used to do that all the time. This year its a different story. Its so nice. All hail Jeff Carter.

My team makes vezina winners look like backups... if those backups looked like vezina winners

But yes, the Rangers are usually guaranteed to do this.

Buffalo absolutely does this. Sometimes I wonder who has prime Roy as they're back-up, and then I remember it's us, not them.

We don't get to play backups. I think only twice in 26 games. Or, I think 3 times after the Bruins game.

We finally put 3 on Holtby today, that was long overdue. Not that he's a backup, I actually like him alot, but he always seems to dominate us

The Rangers do tend to do this alot. I think they get too fine with a less than stellar goalie in net thinking they can just snipe him at will. They start aiming at corners. We gotta keep it simple and get the puck to the net like we would any goalie.

But it seems like alot of teams do this, and I think it's because we forget that there's only 30 spots for these guys as starters. So the backups are still world class. Imagine how many incredible talents would be left on the bench if there were only 30 starting forwards.

The Canucks can't score against against any goalie. In our last 4 games we have averaged exactly 1.5 goals per game, resulting in 4 straight losses. This complete suckitude and inability to score has been our downfall (mixed with attrocious defense) - in our last 12 games we have 3 wins, 9 losses. [Watch out Florida, we're comin to getcha!]

However, keeping this in mind, the answer to the question is yes... because we not only lose to backups, we get completely dominated and usually shut out by them. And I'm not just talking about backups - I'm talking about journeymen, first-game-ever-in-the-NHL backups. They shut us out routinely.

LOL. If 95% of teams make backup goalies look like Vezina winners than why are all of their stats so bad?

That being said, the Sharks are as guilty of this as anybody.

No, Pens just make rookie goaltender look good against us, also every rookie looking for their 1st goal of the season must wait until they play the Pens.

It's weird as hell.
