anybody who actually picked that hardly deserves to be called an expert. The turnaround was quite obvious to predict. Maybe not all the way to first place, but it was clear the team would be in the 6-10 range at worst.
Ducks finished 2 pts better than the Canadiens last year and Ducks have a better record this year so far. I would say at best they're pretty comparable turn arounds.
the way i see it pretty much any argument you have for therrien, the same applies to boudreau, but more. I dont see a scenario where therrien gets more votes than boudreau. They probably split the "biggest improvement" crowd of voters though.
Because of that, i see the "coaches the best team" (quenneville) or the "playoffs despite adversity" (maclean) voters winning this. Not sure which one though.
queen then bourd. it's great what bourdrea's done with the ducks, but regardless of what was 'expected' of the hawks, they did something we won't see for a longgg time. the rangers were projected to be top 5(probably higher than that) in the league and they didn't do jack in the 1st half.
Shouldn't that argument mean Randy Carlyle should have won the Jack Adams in 2006-2007?
Therrien and Carlyle have both done an incredible job at implementing a complete 180 in the systems and overall environment in the room; and it shows in the standings.
MacLean has (yet again), done an incredible job getting a whole lot out of "nothing". Impressive yet again this year.
Although the star power on Chicago is quite abundant, Quenville has somehow managed to coach this team on an incredible run. Will be interesting to see how he handles a 2 game losing streak!
Boudreau has talent on his roster, but there's always been trouble winning games. He seems to have that figured out!
