His CHL season is over, that's why he's there for now.

I really hope Dumba can play well in Houston, this should definitely tell if he can compete for a wild spot this next year

With Granlund coming back to HOU, playoffs are more than a possibility now.

This is huge for the Aeros.

Dumba does not want to be stuck in Red Deer next year. I expect him to be making some big hits and firing some slappers. Hopefully this goes the way i think it will.

I'd prefer if he could just play DEFENSE, and keep guys out of the slot, and pucks out of the net. We have enough guys focused on big hits and scoring points.

We have dmen who make big hits and score? Where? Part of Dumbas defensive package is his physical play are you going to try to tell me that the Wild have that in their Defensive corps?

Goes without saying that as a Dman he will be expected to do the things you mentioned but he knows what the Wild are lacking and has some of those tools in his skill set and he will be looking to show it off.

I said PLAYERS, not D-men ....... we already have our big hits guy in Clutter, and we have multiple D-men who are only offensive, not Defensive. (Suter, Gilbert, Spurgeon, Clark)

This team needs a Shut-Down, ruff and tumble Pronger/Weber type D-man, more than anything else.

And since the vast majority of the folks here on the Forum think that Dumba is going to be our defensive savior, I mentioned I'd rather see DEFENSE from him than anything else while he is in Houston.

Oh, didn't know his team was still in the playoffs. Will he join the Aeros once his OHL season is over?

That is why we NEED some aggressive D-men to be signed or drafted, because the only two guys we have on the team that do that are Stoner and Falk.

Your first post made it sound like Suter doesn't play defense. Just because he's not physical doesn't mean he's worthless defensively. Something something Lidstrom.

Suter is not worthless defensively, but he is really not that good on defense. That is why he was paired with Shea Weber, and why he is with Brodin.

You put the offensive Dman with a stay at home, defensive partner.

If we were to name Best Defensive D-man in the NHL this year, I would name Brodin, Stoner and Falk ahead of Suter. But Suter makes up for it with his offense.

My whole point was that the Wild needs Defensive D-man propects, because we don't really have any in the system who will play NHL.

The guy who consistently outscored Suter is the stay at home defensive partner?
