Flames Draft Pick Gillies wins Hockey East Rookie of the Year

Goalie Jon Gillies won the Rookie of the Year Award in the Hockey East. He currently plays for Providence.

Gaudreau of Boston College (also a Flames draft pick) won the Hockey East MVP!

This. If HF has taught me anything, its that the Flames prospects are all garbage.

And that Iginla is worth a 2nd at best now but last year he was worth 300 firsts.

Only if you believe revisionist history.

Last year he couldn't be traded because of his cap hit.

I was going to say that. Basically when ever we try to move him is the wrong time but any time before would have been except not

A lot of people questioned the Gilles pick but given what Irving did this year (nothing at all) it shows you can never really have too much depth in net, Gilles could turn into a very good goalie after all.
As for Gaudreau, if his size doesn't hold him back, could be a steal of the draft.
Congrats to both.

Ah true. He was given limited action if front of a struggling squad but he didn't exactly wow the organization.

Nice to see our guys in NCAA doing well.

I think Gillies has a higher upside than Broissoit which is good.

Is it possible that next year's WJC has Calgary prospects in net for both Canada and USA?

Lots of good goalies this year actually in the CHL alone so we might get a Canadian goalie
