I'm not trying to call you out specifically, I'm just really tired of people saying our forwards are fine and we should trade for Dmen. Many fans have an overly simplistic view of how the game is played. The offense score goals and the defensemen play defense. That's not how the game is played. All 5 players contribute on both sides of the ice. Our offense is heavily concentrated to goals off the rush from stretch passes. We don't play enough, consistently, in the offensive zone (last game was an exception). I am all for fixing the PK and the defensive zone, but acquiring better defensemen is not the answer. It will take team discipline and actually picking up open guys instead of puck watching. The forwards need to stop leaving the zone early and start picking up guys on the back check.
Also, where did you get the Pens 2nd line combining for 90 points? That's definitely a made up number. The Bruins have far better offensive depth than the Pens. They have 3 lines (hell even the 4th line chips in) that can score, defend, and agitate.
The 90 points is our top D pairing and second line, my fault. My point was toward improving the 3rd and fourth line. That's where we will get beat, not the top lines.
Bruins fan coming in peace. Rask played last night. Doubt if he plays tonight with games on Thursday, Sat and Sun coming up. How is Khudobin going to hold you guys to one goal?
The Bruins haven't been too aggressive at the beginning of games lately and it's going to bite them tonite. I think the B's fall behind early and just can't come back against you guys. I know Malkin is out too. But, I'll say Pitt 5-2.
If the Bruins lose tonight(Which I think they will), I'm more interested in how they respond to it on Sunday with Rask in net and you guys coming off of a tough game against NYR on Sat and us playing Washington.
Aren't they starting their backup? Seems like it should be Fleury, need this win.
I'm surprised the Bruins didn't start their back-up last night and save Rask for tonight. It's likely Rask will play back-to-back, unless the Bruins really want to give their young back-up a test.

Ottawa is a division rival for the Bruins from the Bruins perspective the Sens game is more important then the pens game. When the pens play NYR sat and Bruins sun the NYR game will be more important for the pens.
What process? I'm the only one who's predicted a loss (and that's all I predicted). Feels to me, like the type of situation we'll have a let down ... with Geno out, changed lines, and a Boston team that's playing very well on both sides of the ice and more than able to handle us physically. Not saying they're better (for my part), just likely to be better tomorrow. Hope I'm wrong and we win 6-2. Entirely possible.
Plus Im going to the game tonight. This will be my third game, the other two being the worst home losses of the season (Toronto, NYI)
his cross crease pass to Neal on the 5-on-3 was something special. Not sure how he'll deal with more aggressive 5-on-4 PKing, but he's been good, calm, poised on the 5-on-3s and 2nd unit. Looking forward to this.
I think against a physical team like the Bruins Engelland should be playing. If Thornton or Lucic start running wild we have no one to counter. Glass has been invisible, hell scratch him and play Engo on the 4th line.

The Penguins defense hasn't held up well against good teams. Fleury is coming off a stretch of his worst hockey to date. More than likely the Bruins will take a lead and play a smothering road game. My expectations are the Pens will double up in shots, but quality chances will be low. Khudobin will have an easy night.
I could be wrong, the Pens get going early on and build a lead. But considering our situation on D and they'll relinquish pretty easily.
The more I look at this match up, the more I hate it. Boston plays the game we don't match up with well. They are good in the defensive zone and won't let us do our typical stretch pass. They also crash the net hard in the offensive zone for crap goals. They are great at cutting through lanes.
If our defensive zone consists of standing around tonight, it's over.
On paper you would think they would be even worse matchup than against Philly. But for whatever reason the pens play well against them. They're 8-4 against Boston over the past 3 seasons. Sometimes you can't explain these things.

Yep. Some Leafs fans in front of us ended up tossing it down when we took a bathroom break, but we were able to salvage it at the end of the game. Gonna bring it this Saturday too.
