Oh our lovely "C" depth comes back to show it's ugly head. I agree Shredder needs to go down and get some offensive confidence going again...but WTF.

It feels like the Isbister/Ritchie era all over again.

Hopefully they use him on the point instead of Garrison.

This is quite comical actually. An offensively creative rookie couldn't generate offense with Sestito and Weise so because we want to keep Lapierre in the top 9 or top 6 lets send him down and bring up Ebbett who's completely useless. Sounds good AV

Good riddance. Don't let the penalty box door hit you on the way out. Come back when you're an NHLer.

Why are people shocked? This is in the best interest of Jordan Schroeder. He got his feet wet at the NHL level but it's quite clear he isn't ready offensively to contribute. He wasn't contributing even with wingers like Raymond and Hansen, he clearly isn't ready to be a full time NHL'er with offensive flare. He needs to go back down and work on his offense, period. He's fine in a bottom 6 role right now, be we all know he won't succeed as a bottom 6 forward because of his size. He has a skilled finisher in Jensen to play with, lets hope the two of them can work some magic and possibly both be up for the post season.

Maybe because he's being replaced by a perimeter player who's skill is in the offensive category.....kind of like....Schroeder only less gritty. Does absolutely ****-**** for the Canucks - if anything, I'd say it makes us actually worse if that's possible.

Glad for Schroeder getting out of this mess (though we hardly have a genius in the AHL either so I have my doubts he'll develop there) but it's another case of using a player that he isn't suited for (bottom six forward duty).

If it's a case of there's not a better alternative available, then Gillis is sitting on his azz from a problem that's been here *BEFORE* the season began.

Maybe the thinking is to get him going in the AHL and bring him back up this year, but I don't like how they tried to cultivate his offense while here. The Booth-Schroeder-Raymond line was buzzing but failed to cash. They were broken up too quickly IMO. Then it was a downwards spiral from there.

If he's fine in the bottom6 right now, how do we know he cannot succeed as a bottom6 forward due to his size? He more than held his own defensively.

I knew it would happen. I was in threads prior to this stating that this lack of offense will cost him, and it did. Now it's up to him to get back up here. Hopefully, he makes adjustments to his offensive game and we see a player who attacks more. But I still feel he didn't get a fair shake regardless.

i am a bit surprised MG hasn't made some kind of a move post-Manny ... it's pretty clear that even with Kesler we need another C.

i like schroeder, but he's not getting much done, 5 pts in 22 games and a team worst -5 (tied with Edler, oy)

Also his 44% on the dot not good enough (Ebbet's 45% far superior.)

Ebbet better not be given a top 9 role, if Schroeder didn't get one Ebbet also shouldn't.

That's exactly what it is though, might as well get Schroeder out of this mess. Being in Vancouver is doing nothing for him right now, he might as well go down and work on his offense. This is a move that I feel is more to do with what's best for Schroeder and the team long term, and less to do with giving this team the best chance to win right now.

You're looking at this the wrong way. Our team is a disaster right now, we have won 3 of the last 15 games with little sign of turning it around. Two of our team leaders are out of the line-up, we just lost the division lead, and we appear to be spiraling downwards. Why does Schroeder need to be part of that? He hasn't produced offensively, and while he is playing just fine without the puck and defensively, he needs to succeed in an offensive role in order to have a lengthy NHL career. Again, it is in the best interest of Jordan Schroeder to head back to Chicago and work on his offense. Ebbett is nothing special, but he's the next best center we have at the moment.

it's fairly obvious that AV needs a PK specialist, biggest reason for the callup

Except for the fact the player brought up was Ebbett...who's probably inferior defensively to Schroeder.

I guess so. Though I don't think that was AV's thought process on sending him down, nor Gillis's for that matter. As a fan, sure, maybe it's better for Schroeder's development if he's not here right now.

My feeling is that Arniel won't be able to teach Schroeder how to succeed offensively down on the farm, and that when he comes back up here, the same problems will arise. He needs to figure things out here in the NHL, under better teachers. But whatever, such is life.

To be serious, this move probably has more to do with Schroeder than Ebbett imo, the offense wasnt there, and although I felt that he wasnt given a long enough chance to prove it with skilled players before getting demoted to the fourth line, it may be for the best.

Kinda cool to see Schroeder and Jensen together

Maybe this is a move to give Jordan some more quality time . Maybe it is so he can find some mojo with Jensen.

Replacing Schroeder with Ebbett is not a step up in my opinion. Stranger things in the universe have happened and its magically worked out , so lets see what happens.

The guy had a ton of chances to show something on the PowerPlay which is tailor made for people with his skillset. He's in over his head and needs more seasoning for sure. Jensen will be back up before Schroeder.

yes, but being on the point of the PP obviously wasnt working, and it doesnt need to work for him to be a successful PP player, he is supposed to be on the half wall. On the second unit with Raymond he looked a lot better imo

Putting the guy on the point on the PP is giving him a chance?? How so? Even his biggest supporters say he's a bad fit for the point. This is exactly what I mean by casting him in a spot where he has little to no chances of success. How would Henrik Sedin look on the point?? Probably not good at all.
