I think I'm going to start a petition asking that Vikings never again trade with NE. I mean the dumb**** chilly gives up 2 3rd round picks for Moss then cuts him because he acts like a child like that wan't the ****ing reason he left the first time... I mean on his first stint in MN Moss had drug issues, tried to kill a cop with his car, its not like Chilla had the respect Sweater boy has.

Now we give up sooooo much, couldn't we have let NE pick a safty and traded with Dallas?

Hopefully we can package and move up into the 3rd round somehow.

Just need a decent LB and this draft is amazing.

We need a starting middle linebacker badly. Urlacher as a stop gap maybe but who knows. The biggest issue isn't getting a body in there, it's the right body

You don't suppose AP can play line backer?

Spiellman said that Erin Hendersson is going to be moved to ILB so we can pick a project pick and work him in.

Still tho those 4 picks are just a butt ****ing if you ask me, we'll see in November tho.

Technically it was a net of 3 picks, and one was a 7th rounder. I've already talked myself in and out of this trade up 3 or 4 times, but I'm in again. We got 3 guys that are going to start week 1.

Doesn't really matter. I'm sure we'll take a LB in 4th.

I'm with you...7th doesn't matter. Plus, we gave up our worse 4th rounder so we can still get the guy we want more there.

Patterson fills a glaring, glaring hole and can fill Percy's role which was huge for Ponder.

I really like the size our secondary has with Smith/Sanford/Cook/Rhodes/Jefferson

You want a 4th rounder to start?

If that's the case the Vikings must have one more move up their sleeve.

Wasn't it Detroit's 4th? I think we gave up the 102nd and kept the 120th. Either way, it doesn't really bother me.

Patterson was one of the wide receivers I was completely sour on before the draft. But based on the first two picks, which I'm happy with, I'm willing to wait and see. Hope he's not an alligator arm-er.

It's not unheard of. Depends on who is available. Maybe we put our 4th and 5th/6th together and jump back into the 3rd. Still a lot of options.

Hasn't Henderson worked in the middle and has sucked? Plus we do have Audie Cole. Would like to see what he could do.

Based off of value, Minnesota only gave up 8 extra points to move up. To me, the trade isn't a huge deal.

You said "gash us up the middle" which I took to mean as being run on. If Henderson doesn't work out, then ILB becomes our #1 priority next year (assuming that QB doesn't).

For one of the more "meh" drafts of recent years talent-wise, the Vikes did surprisingly well for getting athletes that could jump in right away and make an impact.

This draft had me so uninterested overall due to the overall lack of skill... with as late as the Vikes were picking, I wasn't exactly expecting much... but that run on offensive linemen allowed this draft to fall right into the Viking's lap!

I'm pleased with the 2 picks, and I'm not down at all on the trading up 23 spots from our pick in the 2nd to be back in late first... Patterson was absolutely the right pick there!

On face value, the Vikes traded 4 picks for 1... in reality, they moved their 2nd back into the first and gave up a 3rd, 4th and 7th. IMO a small price to pay for a physical WR with game breaking potential.

Someone mentioned they hope he doesn't have alligator arms... this is NOT someone who's going to be accused of being affraid of making a catch in traffic. This guy LOVES physical football... just as a Percy Harvin replacement needs.

His weakness is route running. He comes from an overly simplified offense. Not that many of Harvin's plays were all that complex scheme-wise, so that shouldn't hurt too much early on.

Another strength is his kick return skills... IMO that was one of the bigger losses for the team when Harvin left... he was the best kick return man in the league prior to getting injured. The Vikes missed him dearly in that aspect, and it sounds as though Patterson could be just as good or better than Harvin as a return man!

Most teams draft goes : 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th.
Vikings went: 1st, 1st, 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th.

Floyd was an A+

Rhodes was a B+/A-

I've already voiced my opinion on Patterson in this thread and I wasn't too crazy about the trade so I'd give that a C at best.

I'd still consider the night a pretty big success though

That's the problem is pushing back the MLB. We need one. We've needed one for a long time.

You guys think the Vikes will try to trade up into the second and get a linebacker? Quite an interesting first round I will say. I'm not really too informed on the prospects but seemed like we got good value based on projections and in positions of need. If these players can step in right away and fill a role it would be great. Its exciting getting a few higher profile guys. Hopefully the Wild can move back into the first round too.
