It makes me suspicious. Honestly, to the point where I'm not considering Couturier for Edler without an explanation. Laughton's available.
if Philly got Edler for Couturier stait up

MG should lose his job

IMO Philly would have to add

Flyers

Sean Couturier
Daniel Briere
1st

for

Canucks

Ryan Kesler
Cory Scheider
Apparently the flyurs don't need centres so keep Kesler, keep Schneider, insert Luongo, insert Edler, and have filly add Simmonds and Coburn...

So, to recap, you're suggesting Couturier, Briere, Simmonds, Coburn and a 1st for Luongo and Edler? Do I have that right?

So the deal looks like this then:

Flyers

Sean Couturier
Daniel Briere
1st
Simmonds
Coburn

for

Canucks

Edler
Luongo

Is that right?

If anything, we're looking to trade a defensive center like Laughton for blueline help.
Couturier will never be as good as Kesler. The over ratting of Couturier continues. It's down right idiotic to suggest he has more value than Kesler. It's like me saying Jensen has more value than Voracek.

Still not enough for the Canucks.

I think you should add Giroux and Voracek to the Flyers side of the trade and a 6th round pick to the Canucks.

God no. Nowhere near enough to move Edler. Couturier+Coburn for Edler+ or bust. Edler has had a rough start to the year but trading him for nothing short of a package like that would be idiotic.

Eh not really. Kesler is injury prone while Couturier is more affordable and has more controllable years. I'd rather have Couturier for the long term and I'm a Rangers fan who loathes the Flyers. Kid shut down Malkin single handily.

Lol... Couturier could very well end up being a better player than Kesler. He was a projected #1 overall for half a year for a reason, he has more value than Kesler based on that potential and Kesler being made of glass.

Couturier may be as good as Kesler defensively but he's he's shown no signs of developing into as good as an offensive player. In fairness to Couts Kes didn't either till he played in a top 6 role, anyway Kesler as of right now his value is at a low so trading him at this point would be stupid. Without Kesler Vancouver is an average team, to Vancouver Couturier is nowhere near as valuable. Hopefully Kesler can stop with the diving and just focus on playing like a beast.

I doubt Edler gets traded after we JUST re-signed him.

Couturier has been much more impressive at each and every level at his age thus far. He did better in juniors, was a higher touted prospect, played in the NHL earlier and dominated Malkin at 19 years old. Give him time, because like you said, Kesler wasn't impressive early on, it took him two more years to even crack the NHL, and he wasn't even close to a PPG player in the AHL like couturier was.

Ever heard of a sign and trade? I don't think they will either, but it's not as rare as you're letting it on to be.

Wow sorry I must have missed something, thanks for pointing that out, it is not right, I made a mistake. I was confusing this thread with another. Scratch Briere (we don't need him) and the Canucks add a 2nd rd pick. Otherwise yeah, that would have been pretty lopsided!

No one wants Luongo with that contract. Especially the Flyers. If you want Danny Briere and Coots, how about something like Elder + Schneider for Briere Coots + Coburn? Close?

It's Edler!! Learn to spell! And that's a big NO, not even close. Just take Lu instead and we'll talk...

Edler has always been overrated by Nuck fans, that's what is idiotic. Take into account that Laughton > Jensen and you will see that this deal is fair.

No he really hasn't. Edler when he's on his game is a top 10-15 defender in the league, please tell me which team trades that kinda player who was just signed to a extension for anything less than a overpayment.

If I'm moving Edler I go for Simmonds and Couturier personally. Then I grab a RH defenseman like Weaver in a second deal for a draft pick.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kesler-Simmonds
Higgins-Couturier-Hansen
Wiese-Lapierre-Kassian

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Garrison-Weaver
Ballard-Tanev

Luongo/Schneider

Not sure if PHI does it though. Also, Edler has a NTC so it's a moot point.
