We are confident with our team and we don't have many needs. We would like to add a big 4th line center who can win faceoffs.

Picks and prospects can be used but only for the right player.

Also listening to offers for other roster players as long as it makes sense.

PM!
Alright guys, let's talk trades!

Confirm.

Leafs acquire Penner, send Liles to LA

The Toronto Maple Leafs made their first move leading up to the trade deadline in preparation of a Stanley Cup playoff run, sending oft-scratched defenceman John-Michael Liles to the LA Kings in exchange for power forward Dustin Penner.

"We think this is a great deal for both teams - a real hockey trade, when they're hard to come by. I mean did you see that Anaheim/Tampa trade? WTF was that?!" Leafs GM TribalPhoenix stated in a press release from the Air Canada Centre this evening.

"Dustin is a big, strong power forward who we plan on trying at both wing and possibly even centre. He has Stanley Cup experience, and instantly adds solid physical elements to our top 6 forwards. We're thrilled to have him in the Blue and White."

"John-Michael Liles has been a consummate professional, but with the depth we have on defence in Jake Gardiner, Morgan Rielly, as well as prospects such as Jesse Blacker, Matt Finn and Stuart Percy, we felt the need to send JM to a place where he'll get to play, and we'll also clear contract space for next season and beyond. We wish him all the luck in the world."

talks have been slow, but we're still open for business. We're still in the market for a top pairing LH d-man and some scoring in the top 6 (C/LW). I should be back in about 2h and be around for the rest of the night. PM me !

Confirmed.

Shuffling the deck; Leafs send Kulemin, Ashton to Pittsburgh

The Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off their second deal of the day, sending winger Nikolai Kulemin and prospect Carter Ashton to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for highly touted prospect Beau Bennett, as well as Pittsburgh's 1st round selection in the upcoming Entry Draft.

"We weren't initially looking to deal Kulemin, but this was a deal that made a lot of sense for us... both now, and for the future." Leafs GM TribalPhoenix stated in a conference call this evening.

"Nikolai is a very good player in this league, but we absolutely love Beau Bennett's skillset. We see him comparable to Kulemin, but with more upside and controllable for more years. This also opens up a roster spot for Dustin Penner whom we acquired earlier today. We've also managed to acquire another 1st round pick in the upcoming draft, a draft which we see as one of the deepest in the past decade. While we also gave up Carter Ashton, his performance with the Marlies was below our expectations and we believe a change of scenery will help him develop."

"We'd like to thank both Nikolai and Carter for their contributions, and wish them well going forward."

Sitting in the library writing a paper... which means I'm available for trade talks tonight

Shoot us a PM if you're shopping a Top 9 winger or good defenseman.

We're also still looking at some packages for Jacob Markstrom, we have 4 solid offers.

Other players available:

David Booth, Keith Ballard, Max Lapierre, 1st/2nd 2013, Anton Rodin, Jordan Schroeder, Brendan Gaunce.

Still here to talk deal - hunting down a #1 centre if there is one out there we're not aware of.

Ryan O'Byrne
COL 3rd 2013

Keith Ballard

Ballard has been having a solid year in Vancouver. However, with his style of play clashing with our team and coaching staff, we felt he could be better utilized by another team. With the Stanley Cup being our goal for the year, we're happy to bring in a player like Ryan O'Byrne who has shown his ability to play shut-down defense. Excited to have another BC boy on the team.

Many teams looking for a top 6 C and yet, no solid offer for Desharnais. Of course, he is not likely to be traded before the offseason but it might change our mind if we get a good enough offer.

Confirm.

We like what Ballard can bring to the table, and strongly believe that he needed a change of scenery. We wish O'Byrne the best of luck.

The Trade Committee convened for a brief meeting and has decided this deal is vetoed. It is completely unrealistic. We have no issue with Vinny waiving to Anaheim. But the pieces changing hands will need to be closer in value.

If anyone is ready to move a big 4th line C who can win faceoffs, we could be ready to part with one of our juicy 2013 2nd round pick for the right guy.

PM!

The three awful trades of the game so far have been vetoed (this one, Nikitin and Clowe), works for me!
