Like it's been said, if we're talking about skills comp straight line speed, Karlsson isn't the fastest. If we're talking in-game where acceleration and agility is important, Karlsson should be #1.
I had Karlsson on my list of "fastest guys who aren't Grabner" but I find it mildly amusing that the evidence his supporters provide as proof of his speed is him committing a brutal turnover.

Off the top of my head in no particular order:

Hagelin
Grabner (who is probably the fastest in the league)
Karlsson
Hall
Duchene

If Grabner had any hands at all......

If Kreider didn't get sent down he IMO he would be the fastest in the league. He is faster than Gaborik and Hagelin.

I too believe that he is faster than Gabby and Hagelin. He's also huge. I think he's bigger than everyone mentioned in these lists. If he knew how to throw the body....

Grabner takes the cake, but others I would include are guys like Gaborik, Crosby, Hall...etc.

Leddy is for sure quick.. and it's effortless looking too. He doesn't use a bunch of short strides

I'd say Leddy, Letang, and Karlsson are 3 of the fastest defensemen in the NHL.

Grabner obviously is the fastest, I would put Hall at #2.

I agree, I don't think Karlsson has the fastest top end speed (definately in the top 5 still), but I don't think there is a better skater in the league in terms of everything combined (speed, agility, acceleration) than Karlsson.

Grabner has got to be the fastest skater I'd say.

The lack of Crosby in this thread I don't understand. People underestimate his speed.

Didn't Patrick Kane chase him down on a breakaway in the Olympics?
Crosby is not as fast as these other guys mentioned (nor is Kane.)

I don't know how this can be top 5. Who is faster out of those in the NHL with elite speed is a total crap shoot, and completely dependent on the circumstances.

That said, Leddy and Stalberg from the Hawks both have elite speed.

Whilst Mikkel Boedker is more shifty fast

Surprised there is so few picking Hansen, and not much mention for Raymond either. Although there are alot of choices so it is tough.

Grabner, Gaborik, Hansen, Duchene, Hagelin, Raymond, Karlsson, and Hall.

He's definitely improved his skating... it looked horrible when he was a rookie. But he still doesn't have any place in this thread
