Id give up more than any other team would. The obvious person is Briere but he makes no sense for them and probably wouldnt waive for a non playoff team.
If 2 million of his cap hit is kept by Florida hes among one of the best puck movers in league. He is so good and underrated but his contract is bad. What would Florida want from us for Campbell with about 2-2.5 retained?
Phillie and Detroit would seem to be the two main potential buyers who have cap space. I could see either paying a solid amount for Campbell *if Florida felt like trading him*.
Vancouver can't come anywhere near affording him (and he's mainly a left handed defenceman).
Campbell after this year still has 3 ys and $21M left. In order for him to be moved Florida probably needs to lower campbells cost down to something like $4.0M-$4.5M.
If they promote that price tag it will drive more bidders, thus they could get something more in return.
The amount they eat may be lesssened if they eat someone elses overpaid contract.
That's all yer getting from me. He's not. Isn't playing like he did last season, but most guys aren't. If you really want to know watch the games. +/-, lol.
I do when he is a lot ahead of most of his team. Put in other terms, why is he playing like poop?
From the few Panthers games I've watched Campbell was easily Florida's best player, and as usual when the puck was on his stick he would usually gain center-ice or make good outlet passes.
He's -17 on a team that has been outscored by 34, which is about right for a d-man who plays almost half the game. If anything his share of ice-time comes matched up against better forwards rather than 3rd-4th liners.
In the back-and-forth of plus/minus he's getting minuses thanks to starting goaltenders with save percentages of .893 and .852 turning routine saves into goals against.
Conversely the pluses that should be off-setting the minuses aren't coming when your presumed top forward (Weiss) has one goal in 17 games before a season-ending injury and the forwards getting the most ice-time on your team are named Fleishmann, Goc and Kopecky who are a notch or seven below any NHL team's top forwards...........

okay, you don't know why he is not playing like last season
Here's some news from the net:
"Florida Panthers Need Better Defense Out Of Brian Campbell"
"Stats we didn't see coming: 4. Florida Panthers defenseman Brian Campbell's minus 17 rating"
"Here is another highly-skilled, highly-paid puck rusher capable of posting dreadful plus-minus rankings. He is pulling a shade more than $7.1 million under 2016, so a bidding team will really, really need an upgrade for their power play."
because it would take less than 30 minutes to realize he is the last man standing on a defensive unit that has been decimated by injuries. They have 3 of their intended top 6 playing and havent played a single game with the top 6 all playing.
the best player is Huberdeau, I guess watch more games?
Nope, the games I watched Campbell was their best player. Huberdeau is a very exciting rookie with a penchant for scoring goals, but he is not yet a better player than Campbell.
