I said probably. I think my assumptions were fair. The Habs will have a tough time to beat Pittsburgh in the secound round and an even more tough time to beat Boston in the East final with the current roster. If the Habs want to win this year they have to add the missing pieces. Boston, Pittsburgh and Chicago will add these missing pieces.
If the Habs do nothing they are out in the secound or third round unless they are extremely lucky like Carolina was (injury to every other team key player: Koivu, Connoly, Roloson) or pay the referee to close their eyes like Boston.
Boston 2011 Run
1st round - Montreal - Injuries: Josh Gorges, Andrei Markov, Max Pacioretty, Wizneiwski (playing, but playing hurt)
2nd Round - Philadelphia - Chris Pronger, Jeff Carter
3rd Round - Tampa Bay...nuff said
Finals - Vancouver - Hamuis, Raymond, Rome(suspended), Kesler(playing hurt)
Other notable injuries - Malkin and Crosby on Pittsburgh, who went to game 7 with tampa....would have had to go through them.
But hey **** happens...like therrien said..there are gonna be surprises this year..it`s our job to be one of them. Maybe the eastern conference falls down for us too.
Can you guys please learn how to quote? It's confusing figuring out who is saying what...
Don't know what happened, I quoted Mariolemieuxfan66, but then everything went awry... oh well, anyway, really like your list Analyzer, was thinking that Chimera would be exactly what we need, guys like Matt Martin and Colin McDonald too, especially Martin.

Last talks were for a 3rd/4th liner, not a scoring forward. But Martin, I don't know, he's pretty young, and impressed me last game against the Isles, not a pretty skater, nor very skilled, but seemed so damn strong. Anyway, we'll see...
What about drew stafford from buffalo looks like he would welcome a trade A 6 foot 2 215 lbs right winger who shoot right and he has scored 30 goals before.

Bryan Bickell, 26 years old, 6-4 225 pounds LW
David Clarkson, 28 years old, 6-1 205 pounds RW
For trades, I'd be looking at:
Wayne Simmonds, 24 years old, 6-2 180 pounds RW
Brandon Dubinsky, 26 years old, 6-1 210 pounds LW/C
Niklas Hjalmarsson, 25 years old, 6-3 205 pounds D
Dubinsky is way too expensive for what he brings to the table. I would love to get Simmonds on this team though. I loved him in L.A. I remember there were rumours on this board once about a Kostitsyn for Simmonds trade, so many people were screaming noooooo. I would've loved it. It was a dream of mine. It would've been an absolute steal. *sigh*
I also always liked Boll too. A perfect 4th liner with toughness. He would be a much better fit on our 4th line than Armstrong. Boll would bring about the same quality of play as Armstrong except he would hit a lot more AND is one tough hombre.
Considering we seem to be scouting Columbus a lot lately I'm sure MB is looking into it.
I dont think our problem is in the top9. I think our problem is in the bottom6 and in D.
With Diaz injured we have a Bulldog player in the line-up and it shouldnt be the case.
I'd go for Maxime Talbot in Philly for Yannick Weber. (Therrien played with him and knows him, plus hes a heart and grit guy, that plays well in the playoff).
You have two good extras. And we can change the lines depending on who we play against in the playoffs. That way we dont trade our youth/best prospects. We gain a signed played that the coach knows. A guy from 'here'.
And on D, we just need someone better than Kaberle. A player that can 1. Move the puck well. -OR- 2. Play good D, with hits and size while being more ''invisible'': Maybe Weaver in Florida. Weber in Buffalo. O'Byrne in Colorado. Aucoin in Columbus. Whitney in Edm (played for Therrien).

A 1st rounder really? I'd say no thanks... Maybe I'm confused by his stats and he skates like the wind with lots of muscle

With a nice price tag also. The guy brings a 5.250 cap hit with him. I don't know how you'd make a trade work with Winnipeg considering the cap is going down next year and they'll want a King's ransom for him. It's unrealistic imho.

You will never have Talbot for Weber alone. Add at least a 2nd round pick and it's probably still not enough.
I would like to get Bickell, really like his game.
He's big, he knows how to play hockey, he plays physical and he can defend himself.. Blackhawks won't be able to sign him this summer. It'll be either him or Viktor Stalberg which I'd gladly accept in Montreal as well.

Getting Simmonds would be so badass. He can fight and he can score. Next season his cap hit will be 3,975 M until 2018-2019. I want him! Maybe Holgrem will let some of his players go since he's financially ****ed for the next season. He's 4 M above the salary cap or 2013-2014.
