Best Old School Power Forward in the League

Old school power forward - scores, hits, fights (at least 5 times a year and against
legitimate opponents).

Who ya got?

That second Ryan Malone is supposed to be Ryane Clowe. Anyone know how to edit a poll?

So what's the difference between an old-school PF and a new-school?

This poll is void as far as I'm concerned. If I was allowed to delete or edit I wouldn't have two Ryan Malones up there and no Ryane Clowe.

I feel that Hartnell is a tier below those guys, he just doesn't fight the same quality opponents as they do. He's in the Iginla, Backes, Perry league, which is a great league, they just don't tend to fight tough guys (although I would've put Iginla in the old school pf category earlier in his career, when he fought tougher guys and more often).

Old school... Lucic/Clowe/Simmonds
New School... Ovechkin/Iginla/Bobby Ryan

Old school is basically throw back where new school is more of a powerforward hybred of powerforward/sniper/playmaker

That's how I took it anyways.

He rarely fights and when he does it isn't against the likes of the players listed. He's obviously just as skilled as all those guys but a tier below in toughness.

Chris Stewart isn't a PWF, he's a big guy whose main asset are his speed and his shot. The only thing he does in a manner of a PWF are his fights, otherwise he's not an overly physical player.

New school PF's are guys like Ilya Kovalchuk who amasses like 3 hits per season and is still somehow labeled a good physical player haha

Or Rick Nash who is just big and really not a good hitter, he just uses his size to score goals

Yep. If we want to go by NHL 13, he is basically a sniper that fights.

Fighting and lots of hitting. Now guys who use their big bodies to protect the puck on offense and throw the occasional hit while rarely fighting are considered power forwards.

Milan Lucic, obviously.

Prototypical new school power forward. Think guys who play like Cam Neely, Rick Tocchet and Wendel Clark for old school power forwards. Lots of emphasis on the power while being able to score. Backes will drop the gloves occasionally but he's not intimidating with the gloves off to anyone who fights regularly. This thread the OP wants real old school power forwards, every time a power forward poll is created people want to include Rick Nash, Ilya Kovalchuk and David Backes.
