When somebody says powerplay specialist they aren't talking Blum and Franson lol. Specialist means Mike Green, Shattenkirk and so on.

Mike Green really does seem as ideal as the they come.

One of few 'specialists' that may actually be available, if you are okay with giving up decent futures.

He does have offensive breakout, written all over him.

Man none of the D mentioned in this thread are really any good.

Babchuk? A power specialist? You have to play to be special right.

Carolina has Mcbain, Murphy and Faulk

Murphy isn't NHL ready and can't see the Canes moving Faulk

McBain could use a change of scenory though he has played well of late.

Because we're not in a position to deal what it would take to get one of those guys; especially given that we're all but set for years with core D-Men between McD, Staal, MDZ and Girardi.

I like the idea of Stoll or McBain. With Stoll salary has to be going back though.

Shattenkirk is not a PP specialist..that is one of his abilities, he's a complete player IMO and at least plays average defensively.

I'd like McBain on the team just for Sam Rosen to have a heart attack: McDonagh, McBain and "Mc"-ael Del Zotto... and next year McIlrath

He's a probable option.

We'd want our 3rd back. Maybe another late pick too (like a 6th or 7th or something) if that's not too much trouble.

There's also Savard, but we'd want more for him.
We'd probably do that - considering the Rangers are all in this year and next, and lets face it, the "condition" on that pick is "Rangers make SCF".

If we don't make it, we've traded a third for Aucoin. If we do, we basically took him for free.

I'm good with it.

The issue with Green is his salary. Yikes. We'd have to send back some cap, not only futures. I can't see a deal being done here, would honestly love Green paired with Staal, though, so the idea is good. He could mess the opposition up on offense, while Staal takes care of the D.

I know I'm going to get absolutely murdered for this, but what the hell:

Would there be any way in hottest Hell the Rangers would center a trade around Gaborik? Say White, Filppula and/or Franzen, next year's 1st and some conditionals for White and/or Filppula re-signing?

If that's a non-starter, it's cool; just a pipe dream of mine.

You're not. Rangers fans brought this up somewhere else. We were somewhere around Tatar, Filpulla & a 1st for Gabby IIRC. White hasn't been mentioned though.

Oh. OH. Well ****... maybe I posted in that thread too.

Ugh, so many threads.

How about White, Jurco, Flip and a 2nd instead of Tatar? I really have a hard time letting him go, and Jurco has just as much potential (and is a bigger guy).

I agree with those who say Stralman should be it.

I'd like to see them try to run two units instead of what they are doing with the 4 forwards all the time. This idea that they need to have all of Richards, Gaborik, Nash, Stepan and Callahan out there at the same time just makes them try to over complicate the power play. Everyone is always deferring to someone else instead of taking charge.

I'd go something like

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash with Stralman and McD or MDZ

Gaborik-Richards-Callahan with Girardi and Staal or MDZ

Probably should have drafted Carlson instead of MDZ, he's a big right handed player with a shot.

Is a Miller for Savard based deal possible? Granted, we are future rivals, but y'all already have Nash so we're kind of screwed already in that regard.

Also, Nashville isn't nearly as D-heavy as they used to be.

The bolded would be why we'd also want to add a 6th round pick or similar. Nothing too heavy.

EH, we'd probably throw in a 6th or something.

Maybe you'd take Mashinter in lieu of the pick? We're low on picks this year.

As has been said before, we are still trying to replace the depth lost in the Nash trade. The pieces are just about starting to gel and we have no more depth available at Forward.

I would love to have McBain on the Rangers, but the only thing available is picks and/or B prospect.

I don't think Savard is worth Miller.
He has not cracked the Jacket's rotation yet, his demotion is a big red flag.

He still needs time to develop and Sather will give him more time at the AHL for a pick.

White for anything more than a 3rd is an overpayment IMO.

I don't think so. The Rangers seem to really like Miller and the Rangers have a greater need for young forwards than they do young defensemen.
