As an Avs fan I cant help but think Stastny could return more (only because of campbell's age) but it still fits our teams need.

People on HF always agree or disagree on trades based on value. People need to realize trades are made by GM's to make their team better and this trade definitely makes Colorado better. Even for the future.

Yes I do this deal as an Avs fan.

I like this deal for both sides.

Soup is too big of a role player for the Panthers.

It's unlikely we move him anyways. The team needs to add a defender to EJ's pairing without losing our center depth in my opinion. Otherwise, as much of an addition as it will be, we'll still struggle to be more than a playoff bubble team.
It's not possible to add a defenseman for johnson without loosing our center depth. We aren't just gonna be handed a top pairing dman for scraps,

He said most. You must have missed that.
The cream of the crop is an exception.

Stastny might be younger than Campbell but Soupy is under contract for three more seasons after this one while Stastny is a flight risk when he becomes a UFA after one more season. There's no way Florida should be taking that risk. This is a team heading for the 1st-overall pick where they can draft a franchise player to add to Huberdeau and the other youngsters. If they contemplate trading Campbell it should be for longer-term assets.

It's kind of funny that AVs fans are willing to trade Stastny for an aging defenseman who is good offensively, but defensively suspect, huge contract, not physical, and small.

Well not all of us do. But I would love to if he was 4 or 5 years younger.
The big difference between this proposal and the usual bickering in Leafs propsals is, that Campbell actually could fill a need for the Avs and Stastny could fill a need for the Panthers.

In COL- TOR proposals, it is usually only the Leafs filling their biggest need while the Avs are left with pieces they don't want..

If only our defensemen didn't suck...

For Campbell, being non-physical might be a positive, for how long he can hold up as a Top 4 defenseman.

When paired with a defensively solid guy in Garrison, it masked Campbell's weaknesses and allowed him to play aggressively in the offensive zone. With Kuba/whoever is still back there, he isn't playing like the previous year and has to go into the "dirty" areas where his weaknesses are shown. JMO

I like this deal, just because it gives Florida a #1 center for next year. It allows the Panthers to potentially lose Weiss to FA and not rush up a guy like Bjugstad due to lack of competition.

Bad asset management for the Avs. The Avs core is 22-25 not 34. Sign Visnovsky as a stop gap in the off season and give up zero assets. There is still a chance the Avs extend Stastny depending on how the team does for the remainder of this season.

I'm surprised that everyone would do this deal. Stastny has regressed in the last year to the point where he has the same trade value as Rostislav Olesz?

No, really? My point is losing our center depth at this point in time for that defender does us no better. Rather be really good offensively when everyone is rolling than average on both defense and offense.

That trade, similar to the previous trades Chicago did with Versteeg, Buff and Ladd.
Those trades were due to cap issues for the Blawhawks, making the value in return less than spectacular.
Add in a NTC for Campbell, the Panthers were pretty much the only team in the running.

If Campbell didn't have a NTC or wasn't forced to be moved, due to the cap, he could of gotten a better return. jmo
