Carolina Cup Run trade with Dallas

To Dallas: all RFA or draft picks

McBain. Steady right shot puck moving d man at reasonable 1.8 cap hit
Dalpe. Canes top offensive prospect. Good size and speed
Gragnani. Top AHL performing offensive d man. RFA next year. Good depth d
1st round pick. Conditional based one one player re signing with canes. Other wise a 2nd
4th rd pick

To Carolina: all UFAs next year= rentals...except Robidas

Jagr
Morrow
Robidas...one more year at 3M

Canes line up

Tlusty. Staal. Semin
Skinner. Staal. Jagr
Morrow. Jokinen. Ruutu
Bowman. Wallace. Dwyer
Larose. Brent. Westgarth

Faulk. Harrison
Pitkanen. Gleason
Robidas. Corvo
Sanguentti.

I know Dallas is not out of the playoffs. I know Dalpe is injured right now, but due back before the end of the season. I know these are three of Dallas' top veteran players.

My thinking was Dallas is a lower cap team and could use not only draft picks for these players but quality players at low contracts. In this trade they get two high picks plus players at low cap hits.

Fire away haters!

wow that would be a serious trade dealine move

a bit to much going from the Canes but they'd be contender

i'd say McBain or the 1st

good deal though, especially for one that large

There are two rentals. Jagr and Morrow. A top six fwd and a third line veteran cup winning fwd. Robidas has one more year. This deal is strictly to win the cup. I like the teams chances this year if Ward can get back. And they have the cap space.

The 1st should be conditional on where they are on the finals. Like the Kaberle/Boston deal.

1st if they make the finals
2nd for ECF
3rd for 2nd round or below

To
Jagr, Robidas

To
McBain, Dalpe, 3rd

Morrow is a bit excessive, IMO.

I thought Jagr is on his 1st of 2 years in DAL, which would not make him a rental. I am likely misinformed?

Edit: Nvm I was wrong

Stars do this easily. Very easily.

I'd also gladly do Morrow + Robidas for McBain + 3rd or something like that.

Ya I would think the Stars would take this in a heartbeat. Why give up McBain for rentals though?

This is not 05-06, the Canes are a young team. I don't think they would go for broke like this. It's not like they won't have another chance.

Something like Morrow for a prospect + #2 pick might work, since he is likely to turn around and go right back to Dallas anyway. If I've got a handle on the Dallas situation.

I'd do it for sure. Although, I'm not keen on trading Jags unless he gives the team the go ahead.

I'd rather have Murphy than McBain but for some reason I think the Canes would rather have him than McBain.

I want to keep Jagr because I think he will resign here but I would do this then sign him in the off season.

How can this trade not bring back Erik Cole. Isn't it inevitable

Its destiny with him and Carolina

Isn't Jokinen much better at wing than he is at center? Carolina should look to get a 3rd line center before getting another LW.

Riley Nash has stepped up pretty well (so far) as our 3rd line center. Moving Jokinen to the wing has helped, a lot.

Morrow hasn't won a Cup.

Not really. His time here is done either after this season or during.

No room for Morrow right now, plus a bunch of good wingers on the way. His time in Dallas is almost over.
