6-5 Caps in OT.
Will occur again, but this time with Semin scoring. Folks here will then immediately blame Holtby for missplaying Semin's shot and that Ovechkin played it correctly.

Ferrao being quoted in the Post today " although the play he made in the middle of the ice [Sunday] was remarkably soft on [Derek] Stepan, that led to the goal. You know, he either has to hit him, or just get in front of him. Just don’t let him advance at that point."

If we win, I suppose it's because Ward was out.
Or because Semin caused the locker room to fracture and took 5 hooking penalties.

The Seminites are way too focused on the lockerroom cancer angle and ignoring the likelihood that if he'd signed a contract that was commensurate with his production, he'd probably still in DC.

#Caps lines this morning: Johansson-Ribeiro-Ovechkin; Fehr-Backstrom-Brouwer; Chimera-Hendricks-Ward; Wolski-Perreault/Beagle-Crabb

So Katie posts this earlier via her twitter and now Crabb is the healthy scratch. So we have 5 forwards (Ribeiro, Backstrom, Johansson, Perreault, Beagle) who are centers that are getting sweaters tonight, but Hendricks is the third line center. What am I missing here.

20 kb limit on avatars; they won't animate if they're bigger. gifs are hard to do without making them either crappy resolutions or limiting yourself to a few frames.

Go Caps? They'll probably split the series and leave us all in perpetual frustration. I don't even know what to think anymore, man.

And, like most goals, it was a breakdown by multiple people. Ovechkin could have stopped the puck carrier and Holtby could have stopped the shot.

Ferraro also said he thinks Ovechkin's hockey IQ isn't very high. I agree (and would say that about most of the Caps).

He hits him, it's most likely a blind side hit and a 2-4 game suspension

He gets in front of him, that's interference.

Because a perennial .4GPG/PPG player signing a contract based on one off season in which the entire offense massively underachieved makes perfect sense and regularly happens in this league.

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to defend the play, just stating what the consequences of either of those approaches most likely would have been.

The only way he could really have defended without consequence was angling Stepan off to the boards while spamming the pokecheck button with the occasional stick lift thrown in. The Semin neutral zone special. Either way it would be a non issue if Holtby knew how to hug the post.

Right - I was rating Harrison (who impresses me) and Faulk ahead of Gleason. I think there's a fall-off after that, and I think McBain may look better because Gleason is slipping a bit, but I don't watch 'em enough to have any strong conviction there.

Just finished reading "Battle at Bull Run" by William Davis, this particular line kind of sums up the season for this team:

"That night the wounded man was brought away from the field , unconscious of the fact that, in the heat, flies had laid their eggs in the wounds. The same thing happened to others, including one North Carolinian who was wounded in the head. A few days later his head was infested with maggots, and he could only cry out in pain and delirium, "Worse, worser, worser." For five days he lived the hellish torment before the larvae consumed his brain."

Tonight's game and this season "Worse, worser, worser". Oh the pain and delirium of being a Caps fan.
