The only time I ever want to see Omark in an Oiler jersey is if I'm watching a YouTube clip. Massive down grade for our top 6 and not suited for bottom six. Who do we put Omark ahead of? Hall? Eberle? Yakupov? PRV? Hemsky? Hairtikanen?
ebs won't be moved, so not sure why everyone keeps putting him in trade offers.
I agree he won't. But realistically, if we wanted to get a key dman or physical 2C he has the value. Is a winger opposed to a center and softer than Hall or Yak. He's the most expendable in terms of our 5; however you trade Hemsky or Gagner before Ebs.
So what would the Oilers have to package with Whitney in order to get a 2014 1st from another team? GMs seem more willing to give up more value with draft picks if it's further down the road, especially when they think they'll be a better team the next year so the pick will be lower. If the Oilers have an extra 2014 1st that's a good trading chip for next year when presumably/hopefully they'll be more of a contender.
Whitney + B prospect?
Whitney + 2nd/3rd rounder?
I think Whitney + 2nd is too much and they don't have a 3rd to trade for 2013 or 2014. It would be like winning the lottery if Belanger, Potter, or Khabbi could be added to Whitney to get a 1st but sadly Mike Milbury's no longer a GM....although if the Islanders are still in the running for the playoffs...Garth Snow maybe?
What kind of return would you guys expect for Hemsky at the deadline? And where do you think he could end up?
I'd be happy with a late first (20-30 range) from a playoff team + mid-level prospect (goalie maybe?).
Nuts. Magic beans. Awful. Oil fans have been infected by the same perpetual rebuild experienced by the club. I think if we ever get good we'll have people wanting to trade the whole damn team for picks and prospects 'cause "their value will never be higher".
