I don't think he's a bone crushing hitter by any means, but he seems like more physical version of Jones.

I guess he's a Petrell that can play center. He was TB's #1 Pk forward last year and wins 55%+ draws.

I just don't know why they couldn't get a pick for this guy, especially considering this is a guy that playoff teams add every year for depth.

Claim Hall, trade Belanger to the Hawks. Ask for Beach, settle for a 3rd.

I wonder the same. Don't know anything about him...

Is this the inside info from his brother?

Oilers Rumors ‏@OilersRumors
The #Oilers have tried to "give away" the rights to Linus Omark. No takers. Possible he will never play in the NHL again.

Jörgen Omark ‏@OMarkGod
@OilersRumors haha funny! I know fact you dont.. If you knew the truth you be surprised

That doesn't really tell us anything......

i am also wondering why he is being waived.

looks like a solid 4th liner...and an expiring contract, so no worries about cap implications next year.

Odd that Omark's brother would even bother replying to a wannabe Ek.

My guess is that they have run out of room.

Pouilot, Conacher, Killorn, have stepped up and made the team. Although Pouilot is hurt. They also have Pyatt and Thompson that have been better offensively to go along with defense.

I think it's just Omark trying to create buzz for himself.

Not really. It tells us that Omark's brother says that the idea that the Oilers offered his rights to everyone and had no takers isn't true. Who knows if Omark's brother is right.

On the Adam Hall front, I would be all over him, so long as we can find a taker for Belanger...

A rumor is a rumor and its about to value the source! Who do you choose to believe has a case here? A random wannabe or Omarks big Brother, if he goes out saturday, i think we can see a move rather quick.

Why, he could've been dealt two weeks ago. If a team wanted him that badly they would've acquired his rights by now.

Adam Hall played two years with Horcoff, wonder if that means anything at this point.

I'm leaning toward this, I know if it were my brother, I'd have trouble always staying "quiet"

Time to collect some more Spartans.

Ryan Miller, Mike Weaver and JM Liles next.

Then bring back Mike York. Former Oiler and former Spartan. He's a must.

I actually hope not. I would like for him to get in a few games with the Oilers and maybe open a few scouts eyes.

And for the record, I believe Omark's brother. I just don't think what he said necessarily means a deal is imminent.

Why would a team trade for him right now when they don't know if they will be able to add him this season or not? If EV Zug gets bounced from the playoffs tomorrow, then interest might pick up.

A team who wants to take a chance on him waiting in the playoffs in switzerland, if he goes out in game 7 hes availble sunday morning, if Ev zug goes all the way, then its a month + away.

Some reactions from Tampa fans re: the Hall waive...

Quote:
We might have to dress Yzerman if we want to win any more faceoffs now.
Quote:
I'm not understanding this. But I guess I should have seen it coming with all times he's been scratched.
Quote:
I don't understand this move
Quote:
Hall lost quite a few recently and has seemingly been replaced by Nate as the third/fourth line C. Stamkos' FO% has risen from 45% to almost 50% this year, while Vinny went from 48% last year to 55% FO success this year. Winning draws is becoming less of an issue, and I guess the coaching staff like what they see from Labrie and Crombeen in toughness and Palat in defensive contributions over what Hall brings to the table.
Quote:
Two questions- First is how could we not at least get some later round pick for a veteran like Hall?
Second is if he clears what's he gonna do in Syracuse? He's been in the league way to long to want to play in the AHL now, so I don't see him trying too hard.
I think this move is more cause Pouliot must be getting close to a return and they don't want to send Palat down.
They also might hope he clears to free up a roster spot to sign a college FA, DeKeyser?
So in regards to "Why was Hall waived?" Tampa fans seem equally as perplexed about it as us. Apparently he's been good on the faceoff dot as a whole, but maybe less so "lately," but otherwise they don't seem to have a reason and may think it was a numbers game.

That said, might the Oilers also not be interested in some of the aforementioned college FAs rather than a waiver pickup? (not suggesting they should - I genuinely don't know)

The NCAA free agents' contracts don't start until next season.

They would be signing ATOs to play at the end of this year.

It wouldn't be an issue.
