I'm sure leaf fans think he is worth a lot but reality is he is a prospect spent all year in the AHL
He was playing well for leafs last year and has 30 points in 40 games with the Marlies this season.

Hemsky and our second for Gardiner + Kulemin.
I think i'd do it not sure what Kulemin's numbers look like but if they are a bit lower then hemmer i would do it.

If I had to overpay I'd do both 2nd rounders for Gardiner. Mostly since Ana is practically a 3rd.

Or 2nd and Marincin not sure what his true value is, not including HF illogical values.

That's what I was thinking too but I doubt Toronto bites. They'd likely want someone to help now, not in 2-5 years.

Not sure what other asset we've got that they'd take for Gardiner.. other than the core few that we don't want to part with.

Maybe try to get a 1st back in a package for Hemsky, then flip that for Gardiner?

I like Gardiner, but I trust Leafs brass on this one. If he isn't good enough to leap Mike Kostka, then there must be some troubles with his game. I would wait to see him play some games again to prove he is fully over the concussion issues, his confidence seemed shot for a bit there when he returned earlier.

I don't think it's about him being outplayed. He only has to play 3 more games to go on waivers. Hence the unhappiness.

Gardiner was the most overrated player in the league last year by a country mile.

With that said, he seems to be having a heck of a year in the AHL and is still just a 22 year old 2nd year pro. There's no reason to believe he still won't be that player everyone was convinced he already was last year.

I don't know what it would cost, but I'd be very interested if he was on the market.

Can't possibly be a downgrade on our D.

Gardiner - Fistric is a solid bottom pair. Oscar can develop another year. Move Petry if his value climbs after another season.

Corey Potter and a 6th for a 7th rounder.

You need first round picks so you can fill holes and replace players on your team year after year with ELC players. That's how you win.

I would be very happy with a Gardiner addition, but there is no way the Leafs move him even if he's pissed about being in the AHL for the moment

Looks like Brett Clark may be leaving the Barons. Close to signing with Minnesota according to Michael Russo.

This 3 line combo that is working so well seemingly has created a bit of a problem with our assets that are in theory supposedly expendable.

You get rid of Hemsky you have a hole on the Hall - Horcoff line that is just as difficult to fix as any other hole. The thing I like about Hemsky is that he could and would probably take a pay decrease after next season.

Have to see what the next set of home games are like.

I wonder how Gardiner feels about his buddy Schultz getting #1 minutes on the top pairing, while he rots in the AHL. Maybe he'll request a trade here.

Gardiner's agent is just trying to create a little buzz for his client prior to the trade deadline.

It seems to be working.

The reality is that he was coming off an injury and wasn't playing well enough to stick. It happens.

Gardiner needs to be a Oiler

@benhankinson: #FreeJakeGardiner

Jake Gardiner's agent tweeted shortly after the leafs and Oiler games.
Tambellini would look real good if he could pull something off.

Except that wasn't even true. Gardiner was a 30 point rookie dman, and Schultz was just some overhyped nobody who hadn't ever played in the NHL... At least that's what Toronto fans believed

I doubt the Leafs are going to trade him but..

- Schultz and Gardiner are friends
- Tambellini and Nonis go back to their Canucks days and have already dealt with each other
- We have the assets to give Toronto (Smid, Jones, Petry, Harti, prospects/picks)

Something to discuss at least.

Would love to have Kulemin and Gardiner back somehow.

I tend to believe that Tambo was looking to move Whitney, Potter or Pecks and he would get a contract with the Oil. I'm happy he hasn't moved Whitney, but Pecks should have been moved long ago. He's going to lose a free asset who could have helped this team as much or more than Pecks. In reality though it just sucks for the Barons, they need him.

Its obviously hard to say what tor would want. I hope tambo gives it a solid try, if they want to much let it go.
He would be an improvement even at the bottom. I actually could see tor dealing him they want badly to make the playoffs and atm he is not helping them if they get a decent offer i could see them let him go.
