And I agree with that. But it's not like they are stuck to the bench all game long, they've been given significant minutes and aren't exactly looking out of place. So I don't get what he meant by ''properly'' developing.

The fact we traded our 6th round pick for Kassian means it's now impossible to trade it to the Leafs for Kadri. Frankly, I am glad...I don't want Kadri anywhere near this team.

Good move, team needs to get a heavyweight to fight the goons in the NE, Kassian can throw em. I'm always in favour of adding fighters.

Good on Murray for addressing a team need, those angry about giving up a 6th round pick next year should get their head examined.

i think the whole point of this is so they can dress kassian and tell everyone else: "If you have a visor dont fight, wait for kassian to come on to do it for you".

This trade doesn't change anything in terms of fights in defense of a teammate.
You are operating under the supposition that Kassian is only acting in a policing role, not a deterent role.

Last year we didn't see non-fighters get involved too often.

IMO largely because Konopka took the initiative many nights, leaving Neil and Smith to take on more of a policing role.

If Kassian takes on the Konopka role, I do believe it could be a very effective way to send an strong message.

Kassian gives PMac the option of using an enforcer in the line-up for those odd games. In all likelihood, he will ride the pine.

Especially considering Wiercioch had to step up because Neil got hit from behind.

This is sort of like Carkner... Ottawa turned him into a serviceable NHL'er and so I do not see MacLean not being able to work with Kassian.

Good to have a bit of brawl in our line up.

I for one was tired of other teams taking liberties with our star players. This move makes sense, Chris Neil can't do it all and he has proven to be a bit more valuable on the ice so he can't spend 5 minutes in the box every night. I think the Cooke's & Rinaldo's will think twice about running our guys with Kassian on the team.

I don't expect much out of Kassian but if he keeps our young players and stars safe from cheap hits I'm glad to have him in the lineup.

Clearly MacStache is bored and wants to solidify a Jack Adams by turning Kassian into a top-6 powerforward.

****, I thought it was Zack Kassian

While I dont like how we paid for what could have been had for free. I like to see the guy throws checks. I hate fighters that don't throw huge hits.

I looked at quite a few of his fight clips. He's not a knockout puncher (he didn't outright do a DD to anyone) but he holds his own with the other big guys he faced and you could say he wins some by the sheer number of lefts, rights and body shots he throws.

Kassian will keep our guys safe like Lucic kept Savard safe, like Carkner kept Spezza safe, like Boll kept Tytuin safe, like Bickell kept Richards safe. Problem solved.

He is now in AHL and I'm not even sure he will be brought up. If BM planned on keeping him in NHL to protect star players he would've claimed him off waivers on Feb 14, next day after Karlsson was injured.
And yeah, we don't have any more star players left

This guy destroys everyone he fights. Looks like he uses martial arts. Maybe Neil can teach him how to play hockey lol

Wikstrand was a 7th.

And you missed the point entirely. Every pick is valuable and can become something good.

It's a pick in 2014, we can easily acquire it back or get an additional pick higher in the draft, settle down.

The price is too high for fighters that can play, especially during our rebuild. A player like Clarkson or Clowe would cost us a 1st round pick+.

You make it sound like Wikstrand is an impact player on the Sens right now.
