Matt Hendricks can play left wing or center, kills penalties, takes faceoffs (86 for 149 or 57.7%), and is willing to drop the gloves. It's time to ship out Michael Frolik and his $2.333 million cap hit.
He plays big role in Caps PK that over last 2 years has been dreadful
2011-12 the Caps PK was 21st in NHL
2012-13 the Caps PK is 28th in NHL
And Ben Smith offers nothing to Hawks currently ,, So dumping Frolik for no reason makes no sense
If you want Hendricks-Kruger-Frolik with Carcillo as extra that might have some merit but to say dump Frolik and bring up Smith and bring in Hendricks it makes no sense
I like Bolland a lot and appreciate what he has done. But he is the odd man out when it comes to keeping more of the roster together. He will have to have a supreme playoffs to somewhat justify his salary. Right now he is overpaid but also is not a 2C. So being a 3C at 4MM is a luxury, with the lower cap, we will struggle to afford.
I don't care about Matt Hendricks. Would barely make any extra impact. He's a fourth liner, Chicago has enough of those already.
Kruger and Frolik have formed a very successful penalty kill duo all year long. End of story. No reason to start changing around guys at the bottom who have been playing fine hockey.
I'd rather acquire Matt Cullen than Mike Ribiero if the Chicago Blackhawks were to upgrade the second line center.
You said Ribeiro is too soft, but he has 33 hits this year compared to Cullen's 13. I wouldn't be against the Hawks going after Cullen, but I'd much rather they go after Ribeiro. Your arguments against him are pretty poor. His +/- may be -4, but he also plays on a team where more than half the players are in the negatives. It's not a very good stat to use in this situation.
Ribeiro would be a great fit IMO. He hits, he's a great playmaker, and he could help improve the PP. He has 5 PPG and 10 PPA so far. Switch Kane with Hossa and both lines would have someone who's a beast at setting people up.
Any chance of getting Kopecky back in a Hawks sweater? He's played some center in the past, can play on just about any line, he's close to 50% at the dot this season (80 FO attempts), and provides a net front presence that this team could use, especially on the PP. I know it would put the Hawks in more cap trouble for next season, but just a thought.

Chicago's been awful the past few years aswell; does that mean Toews and Hossa are ****** PKers? No. The PK is more about coaching than some sort of PK "talent" or "skill" from the players.
I think it's much more likely they get a guy like Hendricks. Bolland is playoff proven. His health, not so much.
Agreed, especially after hearing Bowman's comments. I'd much rather they went after a 2C though. Move Bolland back to 3C where he's belongs IMO. I think he'd be more effective. Then move Shaw to wing

The Blackhawks penalty killing has been awful the last four games:
7 power play goals allowed
12 power play opportunities

I understand what you're getting at, but please no. All I can remember about that guy is just how awful he was defensively.
