Dobby was the best player on the ice today. The B's just collapsed in the third and tried to sit on a lead against the best offensive team in the NHL. It's hard to win if you play passive. Lucic and Horton better get their crap together. They haven't done squat.
Wow claude playing the 4th line with 58 seconds left absoloutely made me lose my ****!
Absoloutely pathetic! With the goalie out!
(Im not a claude hater before any of you say, "its one game calm down" )
Sadly, the 4th line is better than that poor excuse for a 3rd line. An NHL 3rd line should not feature Jay Pandolfo at this stage of the game. Even the Islanders are over this idea. He's had a great career but he can't score at this level anymore.
I get the defensive system, etc., but sitting on leads just isn't smart hockey. Especially against a high powered offense like Pitt.
I think they ended up with like 18 shots. 6 shots per period average against any team, let alone a team who fails at defense is an embarrassment.
People keep saying they were sitting on a lead but I think they were just gassed to ****. Nothing left in the tank. Especially coming off a late night yesterday going to a SO.
Not an excuse.. especially since Claude rolls 4 lines so these guys should, in theory, be a bit better prepares for back to backs.. but that's what it looked like to me;
They were gassed all night and were fortunate enough to cash in on some of their rare chances. The dam was bound to break.. it sucks that it happened in the final ~6 minutes of the game. Heartbreaking.
*sighs* Feel bad for Dobby on that one. Shut-out level play.
Sure, they were tired. But this is a pattern.
I guess its going to take 4, 5, 6 times before the Bruins understand that they have to commit to working in the offensive zone for 60mins. Truly working. Not going in, getting a shot, and losing the puck. That takes 10 seconds...
You can't play the majority of the game in your own zone and win. Its just too hard. Its much easier to control the puck on offense for a good chunk. This is common sense. But takes effort and commitment...
In my opinion they were tired from battling back from two goals down early last night and playing a full 65 minutes to get two points last night. They played one of the best teams in the east and just blew it in the last ten minutes. That is not to say I wasnt encouraged by what I saw in the second and third but I can understand some of it.
Hopefully they finally learn they can't dump it in and rope-a-dope for 2 periods and expect to hold leads. As if they haven't already had enough examples.
Who's going to lecture me tonight on how awesome the LKH line is playing? Before you start, lets agree on the premise that that's a scoring line. 2 goals on them. They aren't even playing well defensively.
This team needs more than one line that can score.
I agree, there's a lot of fingerpointing around here but they were gassed and no one is giving Pittsburgh any credit for a greasy win.
Pittsburgh was blown out in the first period but recognizing the B's were tiring they took a page out of our own playbook and played a very hard forechecking scheme and made the Bruins work just to get it out of their own zone and it wore them down over time.
To whomever fool that was on the GDT earlier complaining why we weren't pretty and played the style they way we played.....well here's your answer...the Pens won Bruins style.
