Joey diamond has signed on for another year with the sound tigers:

Quote:
The New York Islanders announced today that forward Joey Diamond has agreed to terms on a one-year, entry-level contract.

Diamond, 23, scored two goals with three assists, while recording 27 penalty minutes in 10 games since joining the Sound Tigers on an amateur tryout contract (ATO) on March 22. The Long Beach, NY native signed with the Sound Tigers following his senior season at the University of Maine, where he posted 24 points (14 goals, 10 assists) and 147 penalty minutes in 33 games for the Black Bears.

It would appear very few of us understand how the 50 contract limit works.

He signed for next year. He is still playing under his ATO for this season.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that defenseman Mike Dalhuisen and forwards Riley Wetmore and Greg Miller have agreed to terms on American Hockey League contracts for the 2013-14 season. In addition, the Sound Tigers have announced that Wetmore has signed an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO) and has joined the team in Portland in time for tonight's game against the Pirates.

I think these are great moves for Bridgeport and the Islanders. It gives the Sound Tigers a good amount of depth going into next season already. I've seen Wetmore play and he's got some speed and offensive talent.

Miller was named ECAC's best defensive forward and was also a point per game player as a SR.

How many times did people want to trade josh bailey? or okposo? where would we be without them? what were most of us doing at 20? maybe not the most mature things, thats for sure. Give nino time. he has more than enough skill to be successful...

Here is Pedan's assist from last night. Nice move (shot was blocked) Strome finishes.

The young kids Strome, Mayfield, Pedan have some learnign to do. I haven't watched every minute as a lot of Sound Tigers games recently have been played the same time Islander games are played. I watch pieces of every game so I really couldn't give you a great report, it's only been a few games anyway. I'll say that they all need to make quicker decisions with the puck and not force things so much. But honestly you can say that about anyplayer in their first few games of Professional Hockey, so it doesn't mean much. They are all good skaters though, none will be held back by lack of speed.

Very Glad Nilsson has made a full recovery and is getting some game action before the end of the season. Hopefully he can put is health issues behind him and continue on his path of being a very successful goalkeeper.

He stopped 27 of 29 shots today. Not too bad for being in his first game action since late January.

The future of our Islanders right there, love seeing Pedan leading the rush, and Strome going to the right area to score a sniper's goal. Bridgeport is gonna have a good young defense next season with Pedan, Mayfield and Dalhuisen. All have size, grit, and some offensive abilities. I originally thought Mayfield was going to be the best offensive contributor from the blue line, but Pedan seems to love to jump into the play.

If Pedan and Mayfield pan out, we've got two big and skilled defenseman coming through the pipe..... and Pedan can be nasty.

Remember when people were defending Jon Landry being invited to camp instead of Donovan?

Funny stuff.

Nice shot by Nelson but great look from Strome. Strome is a dominant player on the PowerPlay. His vision and precision (passing, shooting) are elite level. He will succeed in the NHL on the Powerplay for sure, I have no doubts. He did well in his 10 games at Bridgeport 2 Goals 5 assists. Can't wait to see him in training camp and pre-season, see what kind of strides he makes and what improvements are made to the rest of his game.

Funny stuff.
I watched Bridgeport this season, particularly early on before the lockout ended. Nino didn't get invited to camp, and his camp made an embarrassing spectacle out of it. Donovan not only didn't get invited to camp, but saw the Isles sign three waiver wire pickups that pushed him even further down the depth chart. He didn't demand a trade, complain, or raise a stink. He responded by elevating his game even higher and improving in all three zones as the season went on. He deserves a shot next season. Love his game and his attitude.

You nailed it. All he did was go on to be a starter in the AHL All-Star game and lead the AHL scoring for defenceman. When you factor in his All Star selections in college and USHL and AHL now as well as top scoring defenceman in all three and his WJC Gold Medal, he is easily the Islanders most decorated and under appreciated prospect. There is nothing left for him to prove outside of the NHL.
