Yeah I never said any different. But when you add a first liner, you're bouncing a guy in a first line role down to the second line which improves that unit, and a second liner down to a third line role which improves that unit, etc. There's a cascading effect that doesn't necessarily mean an additional 80 goals but it does mean a higher skill level and more effective players in each role.

Where does Higgins bounce to?
A more effective third line.

What happened the old 2nd unit PP guys.
Off the powerplay of course, because the unit the guy was on is now improved to the point where he doesn't fit.

It's not that Iginla wouldn't help, but is it the most effective use of resources. When you factor in this teams issues down the middle and other areas, the fact Iginla is a UFA, the assets given up vs teams chances with him, it seems like a poor risk. We could likely get a quality young player using those assets as a base.
Yeah I was not arguing we should go out and get Rick Nash or Marian Gaborik or Jarome Iginla - I was just arguing against the reasoning that a team is improved more adding a second liner than a first liner.

Unless that second liner brings an element the first liner does not, the better player improves the team more.. it's as simple as that.

It's not a true body check, it is so unorthodox and outside of the normal realm of what constitutes a body check. He is skating backwards, making contact with the back of his body.

What is Kronwall's purpose in throwing these checks?

IMO, he's trying to hurt the puck carrier. He's not trying to separate him from the puck in order for him to gain possession, because why would he want possession in the offensive zone skating backwards? Why doesn't he get lower? Brace himself? Target the torso (hips to shoulders)?

Because he's trying to knock guys senseless. I'm hoping someone takes his knees out on one of these attempts soon. because the old boys club that is the 'dept. of player safety' are truly making a mockery of their departments title.

Last nights hit on Coyle is the epitome of reckless, and intent to injure - plunked him right in the head with his tricept. Shanny is a joke.
Sneaking up on a guy and getting nothing but head after having head lined up up for 10 yards.

Shannahan should contact his conscience, but he'd need John Edwards for that.

I don't mind the deception to it at all, it's every players job to know who is on the ice and where they are.

My gripe is, he's head hunting.

He's looking to hurt guys, and extends upwards EVERY FREAKING TIME.

Trade Kronwall to the Canucks and the next time he makes a "hit" like that - watch for a lengthy suspension.

Brodeur credited with a goal! Delayed penalty and the Canes put it in their own net

So he's not only the goalie with the most wins of all time. He's the highest scoring goalie of all time good for him.

Rich Peverly is a scratch in Boston tonight. Many believe a trade is upcoming.

Man, I hope the NJ Carolina score holds at 1-0. That way Brodeur could get the GWG and the shutout.

2-0 florida over Rangers........losing to a bad team with injuries........problem is Ranger can't score even with Richard, Nash, and Gabriok in lineup and Lunqvist in net......that team likely be different this offseason.........Rangers fan knows their team can't score

Julien also benched Rask so it could be nothing more than a wake up call by Dotriev.
