I'm expecting us to trade a current d-man pretty soon... That's the only thing that makes sense right now.

Apparently he was playing real well in OKC. Kinda odd the Oilers didn't sign the guy given they had first hand info on the guy.

Pretty much. You could add N Schultz and Ryan Whitney to the collection of bottom pairing guys too. Tough loss for OKC tho.

Anyone know if he has to clear waivers after being signed?

No re-entry waivers in new CBA.

He was playing extremely well in OKC.

Here's an article from OilersNation just the other day on Clark.

He was put on waivers by the Pens because they wanted to send him to the AHL. He didn't need to clear waivers to play in the NHL.

Not that many Avalanche or Lightning fans like Clark but I do, I think he is solid and he was quite good on the PP when he got the chance.

Clark was solid and ate second pairing minutes quite well for us for a long time. His play last year fell off because he was playing with a broken foot from November onward - i'm guessing he was trying to show himself off a bit for prospective buyers but didn't do himself any favors with his limited mobility. Now that hes healed up, he looks good again, which is no surprise.

Such an extremely underrated shot blocker, too.

This is the guy who gets schooled by Malkin in those gamecenter live commercials, correct?

Clark's an awesome guy, glad he got a spot in the NHL.

One of those guys you would never figure is an NHLer when you see him away from the game, just another dad with his son at the rink. Super awesome guy.

Clark's tenure in Colorado was one of dependable if underwhelming play. Ideally you'd want him as a bottom pair guy because he can't do much good against impact forwards unless they are volume shooters. On a strong defensive team like Minnesota, I think it's likely that he'll get sheltered minutes and will perform well.

hahaha. Yes.

I never thought he was as bad as people claimed when he was with the Avalanche. He is a good 4-6 d-man.

8 d-men on the roster now and none of them can be sent down without going through waivers, except Brodin, but there's not a chance in hell he gets sent down. Gotta think a trade may be incoming, or more likely, one of either Falk or Prosser is put on waivers.

Brett Clark's contract is 1-year, $900,000 (prorated). He had a 2-week window; chose #mnwild over few other options. More on blog

To be fair though, Malkin has schooled a lot of defensemen, some that you would never think would get schooled. But yeah, I remember Clark being a half decent guy with the Avs.

If you get him looking like he was for us during the 2011 season, you'll be very happy.
