If they want to not give up lots of goals, they'd be best to keep those two in the minors.
I don't disagree, I was just tossing a puck-movers into the mix, someone with some NHL experience. But at the same time, it would seem like Mara would do the same thing as Clark. Younger, bigger, and has played more NHL games than Clark. Look at Mara's NHL numbers offensively, comparable if not better than Clark.

After watching Paul Mara in the beginning of the year intra squad scrimmage I hope we don't see him. He was SLOW.
I wonder if there's more to this situation that will unfold shortly. This makes no sense to me otherwise. Why wouldn't the bigger need be to bring in a goal scorer?
Unless there is some sort of trade going-on, this makes zero sense. Makes one think that Fletch has a screw loose as they say. Seems like Paul Mara down in Houston would fit the bill without spending the money. Younger than Clark, bigger, appears to have better NHL career stats. I don't know how Clark lockerroom experience would be any better than Mara's.
Kampfer, Connolly, etc. are also there.
I think it's obvious that Fletcher doesn't think that highly enough of Mara, Kampfer or Connolly at this point. Otherwise, he wouldn't have signed Clark. Why would that be an indication of having a "screw loose"?
I don't think it's that bad of a signing. He sounds like he'll fit in with Gilbert better than anyone else so far.
Stick Stoner & Falk in bottom pairing and use Spurg (he's not very good actually on d) for special situations, and it should be fine.
Fletch I'm assuming is working on something else. We can trade Processor out east where they're still looking for more aggitators packaged with Butch and someone else, who knows. This smells like the foundation for something else, more notable.
Let's just say "NO" to any theory on Cammellari right now. We don't need some lazy ****ing prima donna who likes to float and pout.
Clark is putting up some very good numbers and definitely an upgrade over Falk. Falk has not been good at all. I dont like the plus/minus stat much but he has been a -7 with pretty sheltered minutes. I get the whole right/left handed argument for pairings but Prosser has been a lot better. One of those two is probably on the move though...
I'm actually cautiously optimistic about this. He seems to still have decent skating ability, shoots hard and can chip in physically as well. I'm thinking Stoner upgrade, which I've wanted all along.
Even better if there is a trade coming.

While his shot and offensive awareness would be something the Wild could really utilize, I ultimately have to agree with you. The leadership and the veterans are on the roster, the checkers are intact as well as the rookies. Get some prime-aged player for PMB, Prosser and maybe a mid-rounder.

Where's this coming from? Is there a rumor that the Wild are interested? Or just message board talk?
Clark is exactly the type of D man that I was thinking of this offseason to stabilize our bottom pair. I guess I figured he was retired already. Very good move I think.
Not sure if Prosser would actually clear waivers or not though. Wouldn't be surprised at all if someone claimed him to add depth to their defense. Then again, I was pretty surprised when Kassian cleared waivers, and even more surprised when Palmieri cleared.
I'm more a fan of this than not. Clark was always a serviceable D-man in his career and looks like he had a bad year last year due to an injury that has since healed. I would love to have a veteran presence on the third pairing too which looks to happen after a few practices.
