I hate doctors some times. Our doctor is on vacation this week. However, he is probably one of the best doctors I have been to, ever. The guy gets to the bottom of everything and works his ass off to get you better.

Back to the point - we are waiting for blood work to come back. My wife calls the office at 10 AM and another doctor is covering for him, let's call him Dr. Kleenex. The blood tests were taken on Monday. It is now Thursday. We hear nothing all day until 5:40 PM when my wife is driving home from work. Dr. Kleenex leaves a voice mail saying, "So your liver enzymes are better than what they were, but still high. Your doctor will be back in the office Monday. Thanks. Bye."

Ok. WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN? Yes, we knew the enzymes are still high (we knew that because of the online portal that shows test scores). However, there were other tests that were taken on Monday. Very important tests in fact that would explain why we are going through all of this. Yet, there is no mention of them in his voice mail.

And there's more terrible advice from Dr. Kleenex. Last Friday, my wife was in insane pain. She couldn't move, and if I or anyone touched her she would collapse in pain and cry. Seeing that she couldn't move or even lay down for bed we call the on call doctor, who is Dr. Kleenex. He calls back and she explains to him the whole story. He says to take 500mg of Tylenol 4x a day for the pain. WHAT? You just told someone with a liver issue, granted we don't know what the issue is, to take acetaminophen which has been known to create problems with a liver.

I don't even....

On a positive note, I think she is going to call again today and get an appointment for Monday when our doctor is back in so we can get back on track to finding out what the hell is going on.

Except if it's Grandma Clock's pumpkin or apple pie.

I one time had bloodwork done on a Wednesday. Late that Friday afternoon the doctor's nurse called and left a message on my answering machine: "The doctor has to talk to you about something important wrong with your bloodwork." Since the office was closed on the weekend I had to wait all weekend while thinking about that message. Then on Monday it turned out it was something extremely minor.

To sum up, sorry about that. I know that whole situation has to be excrutiatingly frustrating (and that probably doesn't begin to describe it.).

So, I need some ideas for this weekend.

Lady is out of town until Tuesday.

Tonight: Pizza, beer, and finishing Halo 4 single player
Tomorrow: Going to a friends burger place in the burbs then going to one of my favorite beer-centric bars in the city
Sunday: No plans

I currently have tomorrow afternoon 100% open as well as all of sunday. Too chilly for a bike ride, though, I probably should put my bike in the stand and get my front derailluer issue finally resolved at some point.

Off to ship the daughter off to Spain for two weeks. Can't remember the last time I had this much time alone with the wife.

Not sure what to do...

As for the rest of the discussion. If it's a pie, it has to be key lime or lemon meringue. If it's cake, it must have copious amounts of chocolate in it.

I do know that I don't like the fusion of the two -- cake should never have pie-like fruit-ish filling. That's not cool.

A small cake with pie-like fruit-ish filling = a donut

Our wedding cake was a chocolate raspberry which ruled. Other than that, not much else is worth putting inside a cake.
