IIRC, the Roy for Ott deal was rumored/discussed for several weeks before it happened.

Regehr is in his 13th season at age 33. How many seasons would you give him on a new deal? Don't get me wrong, if Mitchell can't come back next season, then Regehr as a UFA would be fine, but I'm really not interested in giving up Martinez or Muzzin in a deal for Regehr.

That would further explain why Martinez was a healthy scratch last night.
Martinez coming off an injury and playing like crap for a couple of games is the only explanation you need.

We'll see what Dean is up to, I'm usually not too far off on his thinking. A move like the one you are suggesting would be more likely if Dean was sure that Greene is going to make it back this season.

Would be a steal if we could get Regehr for Martinez and a 4th.
DesLauries isn't anywhere near being ready for the NHL next season. Martinez is not as easily replaced as some of you think. At least not for another year or two.

I would be ok with a 3yr length.

Regher has been on Calgary radio a few times because he is friends with Rett Warrener. The impression I got from him and Rett was that the knee injuries have taken a real toll on Regher and he is not long for this league. I have not watched him play this year so I have no idea how limited his mobility he has become.

I was hoping the Oilers would trade for him but, after hearing both the interviews, I gave up on that idea.

His mobility isn't all there. He's still pretty good defensively and he plays tough along the boards, but hes rarely in position for the big hit anymore.

My understanding is he is just not quick enough anymore to defend that well in his own zone. The Kings have defensemen that have a lot of upside. I don't see letting one of them go for Regehr when he is not that big an improvement.

Fine to take a flyer on him as a UFA this summer for a season or two if Mitchell can't come back, but I want Dean to stay away when it comes to a trade.

I imgine a lot of people said or thought that about Muzzin going into this year, or at the same point in the season last year.

Actually a Miller for Quick trade is not out of the realm of possibility. There costs are about the same.

a blockbuster type of trade would be:

TO LA: Miller, Regehr, Pominville
TO BUF, Quick, Brown. 2013 #2, young player (Toffoli???)

Regehr has a no trade clause, worth mentioning.

Value isn't bad, but I don't think it's realistic that we see that much salary changing hands in one deal.

I would be SHOCKED if he didn't waive his NTC to try and win the cup with the Kings

Oh yeah, he Regehr didn't want to move his family in off season. Will he be willing to move now? You can have him. He skates in slow motion and has no offence. He can kill penalties and hit

Is Regehr supposed to make up for us trading the better goalie and forward (by a slim margin) among our BEST prospect? We give up a 2nd rounder to boot.... not happening.

He is older. He is a defensive Defenseman. Because of injuries he may have lost a step but he can still play Defense.

i agree...The owner will talk to him and ask where would you want to be traded and he will probably have a list of 10 teams he will not have an issue in getting traded to if it means playoffs and a chance at a cup. the team that gets him will likely be able to resign him for a year or 2 on the cheap where his role is more of the 3rd pairing, sitting on back to backs for about $2M per

No thanks to Regehr unless it is for Ellerby, Drewiskie, or a 4th. Our D has been fine of late...Phoenix was 3 games in 4 days with a flight in between back to backs.

Rather wait for Greene and possible Mitchell than send out anything remotely decent for guy like Regehr who is along way away from what he once was.
