RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Danny Biega on a three-year, entry-level contract. At the NHL Level, Biega will receive $625,000 in 2013-14, $675,000 in 2014-15 and $725,000 in 2015-16. At the AHL level, he would be paid $67,500 in all three years. Biega receives a signing bonus of $240,000, and will immediately join the Hurricanes’ top minor-league affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Dude didn't have the best year this year, but he's still one of the most dominant NCAA dmen of the last 3 years. Not saying he'll make the instant impact some have (Faulk), but still it's nice to get him under contract and not get Schultz'd.
If he doesn't make the NHL in the next week or so, I'm labeling him a bust and moving on.

I know if I were making $22,000 a year I'd probably be highly motivated to make the NHL.
I bet he makes the roster for 2014-15.
Not sure if you were being sarcastic (so apologize if you are), but I'm pretty sure they meant to write that he is making 67,500 / year for those 3 years in the AHL. NOT 67,500 over the entire period. (even though the quote isn't written well). The minimum AHL salary is 40,500 per year.
I don't pay any attention to college hockey, so this is a serious question: was Biega in a weak division due to playing at Harvard?
Basically I want to know if Biega's point totals were legitimate or not.
Well ECAC's a step down from Hockey East, CCHA, and WCHA, but the dude was also a first team All American in 2012, so yeah his production's pretty legit.

The ECAC has iced some crummy teams recently, but also some really good ones, and a lot of season to season variability. About average for College Hockey. He's legit.
For anybody that saw it, was Biega putting himself in a bad position or did he just take a hit to make a play and get rocked? Either way, it's a tough lesson to have to see a kid learn in his first professional game. Especially considering that if he had a concussion, he probably just lost his entire day to this point. That is depressing.

I'm at the game.
He was going behind the net to play the puck defensively. The guy hit him with a clean hit, but shoulder to head hit. He flew backwards to the ice. And couldn't get his balance to get back on his feet. And then had troubles standing and skating.
Even if he makes a full recovery, there could be psychological damage here.
Yeah. He was definitely not all there after that hit. It looked like that hit Wallace put on Weber the other night. How Weber flew back, except it was shoulder to head.
