Mike Ribeiro to Calgary

What would it take to keep Iginla and add Mike Ribeiro to the Flames.
I think both would work well together and be the center that Iginla needs.

I like it. This could be the move that gets em Into 10th and management will have another excuse to hold off the rebuild

I live in fear that the Flames will do this in some last ditch effort/hope of making the playoffs because that is all management/the owners want.

Then the Flames still don't make the playoffs, loss a top 14 pick to the Caps which really hurts the rebuild of the prospect pool, Ribeiro leaves in free agency and the Flames are in a worse position next year than we are this year (which is pretty bad since they aren't looking all that great now). I acknowledge the Flames lack any notion of a decent center and have for a long time and would really really like to have one (which I think Ribeiro is) but sacrificing a potential key prospect for the future for a guy that could only end up playing 13 games for the team (assuming trade is done at the deadline) is just to risky for the organization at this time.

Yeah, you're not getting Calgary's valuable first for Mike Ribiero. That suggestion simply should end right now.

Hell no.

If/when the Flames are 4 points ahead of 8th spot, instead of 4 points behind it, you may ask again later.

No Flames fan who actually watches the team would suggest this trade as something that would help us. I mean really help us.

Nope.

If the Flames want Ribeiro, they can look to sign him via FA. Giving up assets, especially a 1st, is out of the question.

Although Riberio would be an ideal fit for the C position, we are not in a position to mortgage the future.... Especially for short-term fixes.

If we really wanted him, we can just overpay at free agency.

Well then we'll trade Ribeiro for a 1st+ from another team.

Well, Feaster is the GM so he'll not only give up the 1st but probably another pick next year as well

Why in the HELL would we want Stajan? Let alone for Ribeiro?

Montreal has our 2nd rounder from the Cammalleri trade.

Stajan + 1st or Backlund + 3rd might do it.

But I would never do either of those. Ever.

Holy Batman some Flame fans really don't see it do they? The days of Iginla and the magical 1st line center are long gone... Time to start over

Ribeiro has a NTC, doubt he would want to play in Calgary.

Pass. Calgary needs a rebuild, not a short term solution - not to mention he's a UFA at the end of the year. Also, he's not the kind of player I want in a Flames jersey.

No. Are Caps serious when they say that they want our 1st round pick for a 33 year old rental?

He's the best UFA C available and he's playing really well. He's going to net a 1st + if he's dealt. That said, Calgary would be foolish to not keep their pick. A contender with some depth will pony up the appropriate asking price.

I don't understand why you would want to trade something like a good prospect and a second round pick for Riberiro when you should be trading several veterans you have (Iggy, JayBo, Kipper, Tanguay and alike) for prospects and picks to rebuild. Adding Ribeiro is counterproductive to what your organization should be doing.

sign Ribeiro as a free agent on July 4th. There is no way the Flames trade for him.

From what I have seen my my time here is that the OP is not a Flames fan, at the very least not a rational one.
