Sdao to B-Sens

In case you haven't seen in the B-Sens thread. Michael Sdao was assigned to Binghamton this afternoon via theAHL.com.

Good news for us down on the farm that we have some D help coming.

Since he is a FA at the end of the years I assume the reason he did not sign an ELC is because he needs time to negotiate?

After seeing how much Bingo winning the Clader seems to have helped the Ottawa club I am definitely in the camp of giving the farm team all the help it needs

I heard that things were going well for Bingo despite all the call-ups

Purely my musings here:
Maybe Sdao wants games up here this year to burn the 1st year of his ELC when he signs and they have no room. If the Sens want to try to sign another 1 or 2 College kids with a similar ELC enticement they need room since they are close to the line on total contracts. This may just be a delay while they find a way to lose a contract or 2.

I'd say that it's likely that he's signed but the Sens just haven't issued a news release yet.

I thought that at first but why would the B-Sens sign him to an ATO if he signed his ELC? That's the reason for my musings above. There has to be a contractual reason.

I guess they can't sign him now because they are near (or at) the contract limit already so if they sign him and he plays in Bingo they don't have any room for possible trade deadline acquisitions.

They are tied for 2nd overall with 78 pts in the AHL trailing only Syracuse funny enough by one point who are in their division & 1st overall in the entire AHL.

They are probably having their best regular season ever & once the dust settles will have some pretty good players back from Ottawa plus whoever they sign & joins them when their jumior/NCAA season ends for their playoff run.

Maybe. I'm sure that management would love to package a bunch of these guys for a quality winger, but that's a tough trade to make.

He plays on the ATO to ensure that he doesn't burn a year on his ELC. Pretty standard.

Or maybe he isn't signed. Who knows.

Cap geek doesnt show him having an ELC, my guess is the ATO allows him to play in Bingo without adding to the Sens contract limit.

your own college/junior draft picks almost always join on ATO's and officially start their professional contracts the following year. Usually only free agents are signed to actual 'current-year' contracts.
