A smart man would've waited until the buyout period and then went for surgery.

It's the disconnect of the pro athelete in full display. It's also someone fully naive to the reality of what games cost to the average fan, and what drives the NHL more than any other North American sports industry. Typical out of touch athelete complaining about the paying customer. But oh no, don't let them take down morale.

Don't have to agree with it, but that's how it is. Yes they are pros, but they aren't robots.

3-0 now.

When they finish ahead of the Oilers everybody will conveniently ignore it.

Fans pay too much ******* money to worry about their little feelings. If it's a subpar product then boo the hell out of it.

Sure, but a smarter man wouldn't, since you can't buy-out an injured player.

As previously noted by me (and ignored), they have a 6 game road trip coming up.

So? They'll win just enough to stay ahead of the Oilers. I never said that they'd make the playoffs (although it wouldn't surprise me).

Their road record (5-11-2) and opponents don't convey a lot of optimism. All three california teams, Minnesota, Dallas, and Colorado. Only the latter two are games they should win.

And we might not win a game for the rest of the year based on the team's demeanor following last night's loss. They're in a bad place right now.

I think we can beat Colorado and Calgary at the very least...

It was only a week ago where we hammered Calgary. I think we beat Phoenix or at least play a decent game. Phoenix was absolutely terrible in Vancouver.

In other re-build news the Islanders are really close to ending their playoff drought on the strength of their win tonight. Yes, yes... I know, the Eastern Conference (which we'd probably miss the playoffs in).

Islanders move into 7th in the East, four points up on ninth. Nassau is going wild right now. Good for them.

SJS 0-4 CBJ, Final
STL 1-0 NSH, 2nd int.
CHI 1-0 MIN, 2nd int.
LAK 1-1 DAL, 1st int.

Just imagine if we got to play some of those Southeast teams even once.

Speaking of rebuilt teams, the Canes are a disaster.

Blues and Blackhawks both win 1-0 in regulation. St. Louis jumps up to 6th (only a point back of #5 SJ with a game in hand), Minnesota drops to 7th.

Hitchcock employing a brand of "hockey" that could be confused with soccer.

Normally I don't give two ***** about other teams... but I'd like to see the Isles and BJ's make the playoffs.

Their fans deserve some reward for sticking by them through years of crap... almost as much as the Oilers fanbase.

Anyone else think that Zajac is the new Horcoff?

Has Zajac ever scored at a 1C clip?
At least Horcoff did that once.
But yeah, Zajacs contract is one stinking ugly albatross.

Zajacs last few seasons have been

14p 39games
6p 15games
44p 82games
67p 82games
62p 82 games
34p 82 games

His last season was an outlier for games played due to injury... But it was definitely a desperation signing. Lou got fleeced for cash.
