Another good night in the west for the Oil.

Hopefully, they can take advantage and win in regulation tomorrow/today.

Holly crap I knew Columbus was doing good lately but I didn't realize they were 7-0-3 in the L10.

God I picked up Bob for nothing in my pool earlier this season then dumped him when it appeared Columbus was going to bottom out again.

I like what Puck Daddy is suggesting for rule changes the GMs should look at:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...tml#more-53304

(1) No spinoramas in the shootout (or, ban the shootout entirely);

(2) Hybrid icing - can't imagine why this wasn't installed years ago;

(3) Delay of game penalties - when teams ice the puck and then their coaches do a line change and then the refs have to pull everyone back on, alternatively, when teams will purposely line up a winger to take a faceoff then get thrown out on purpose, to have the center come in, have the refs issue a delay of game;

(4) Ref Discretion on Puck over the glass delay of game penalty - give the ref some discretion not to call this if it's clear it was a "fluke" over the glass

(5) Coach's Challenge - one per game

Yeah, I agree with Hybrid icing. I'm still pissed that the AHL didn't keep it. I think the results were pretty good.

No spin-o-ramas would be fine with me.

I'd rather there be no delay of game penalty for shooting it out; just use icing rules. As far as I am concerned, putting the puck out is the same as icing.

Yes to the coach's challenge, but make it so it's equivalent to a time-out. If you do a challenge, then you forfeit your time-out.

I'd like to see the NHL get rid of the shoot out entirely.
Switch to a 3-1-0 point system.
3 pts for a win, 1 each for a tie. Tie is determined after 1 period of OT, 10 minute 4 on 4.

First rule change should be getting rid of the penalty for using your hand on the faceoff.

This and covering the puck with your hand penalty in the defensive zone.

Well there's what all you guys wished but it looks like the GMs were far more concerned with other items:

Darren Dreger@DarrenDreger Sounds like GM's are in favour of "relaxing" the existing boarding penalty a tad. Too many soft calls. Waiting for more from gm media avail.

Ulf Samuelsson's MODO team just got knocked out of the playoffs, says he isn't returning as he'll try and pursue an NHL position.

He's probably be an upgrade in our top4.

Great.

Dreger also said no coaches' challenge - apparently the GMs couldn't agree on the criteria for a challenge. Gimme a break.

It's hard to believe how bad the Lightning are with all that skill. Roloson got a lot of flack for their struggles last year but I'm thinking that it's mostly undeserved now.

I agree, except I would like to see 5 minutes of 4 on 4 then 5 minutes of 3 on 3.

And still get rid of the shootout

Just saw the replay. If Hall got 2 games, Lupul's gotta get 3 or 4, but we all know that logic doesn't really work.

Lupul left his feet to obviously target the head. It's a good example of exactly what the NHL is trying to eliminate. This suspension needs to show the NHL is serious about eliminating headshots and is concerned about the health of its players.

Rinne is just not the same goalie this year that he has been in the previous few.

Agree. He looks pretty bad this year. His contract is huge too.

Martin Brodeur got credit for his 3rd career goal tonight.

He has more goals than Eric Belanger this year.

That first goal was weak. Must have totally deflated the whole team. I'm surprised they aren't losing 5-0 after that. A true #1 would have made that save.

Seeing Nazem Kadri emerging as a star wouldn't bother me if our young players weren't stagnating. Ugh.
