Dear Friends, Thank You for the support you have shown me and The Red Wings. I look forward playing here for many years to come.

Game. Set. Match.

Datsyuk would still like to finish his career in Russia. He doesn't know how much longer he will play in the NHL
Larionov played SC-finals as 43-year old... So Datsyuk could be another 10 years at Detroit and then play one year at Russia.

Well it has yet to show in his stick-handling.

This is what was happening down the hall in Kenny's office as Datsyuk spoke to reports and said this.

Datsyuk has never been easy to sign.
My sense is that Datsyuk will demand more years than some fans will be comfortable with.

Doubt it... consensus seems to be the more the better.. unless he wants the big money to go along with that like 5yr, 7 mil per. And I'd do that.

highly doubt that's really possible considering he wants to end his career in the KHL

he'll be 36 when his new contract kicks in and I get the feeling that most people would be happy with a 3 or even 4 year deal which would take him to 39 or 40

I couldn't and still can't picture him leaving the Red Wings. They'll lock him up for a few years.

now that's a reaction from fans of other teams. This is also what makes Pavel so special... no one hates him.

Not sure how reliable this is but Kukla's Korner is a pretty good blog/site.

MOD: Source was vetted by Kukla site owner, and is accepted as a credentialed source.
I assume that Datsyuk leaving for the KHL was only pure speculation on your part after the 2013-2014 season since there was never ever any proof that he was leaving after next season, All Datsyuk said is that he wants to finish his career at home in Russia after his NHL carrer is over but that could be when he hits 40 years old not 36 He could play in Russia from age 40-43 He's still in great shape and started his carrer late he has only 11 season under his belt as of now.

That's what I would expect too. Although he might get a little more than that per year.

Just give him a blank check and name a town after him. Give the man whatever he wants, he deserves it.

How do you say Novi in Russian? "Datsyuk"
