I really like the pick for projection purposes. Hecould be an effective James Neal type player.
I see some comparisons to Hartnell, without the chirping.

Can't remember where I read it, but the Canes are apparently gauging interest in defenseman Jamie Mcbain. It would probably cost a lot though.

I'm really intrigued by Zykovs potential. I wish I had the chance to see more of these kids, but he is one that could be drafted anywhere from 10-30. NACS had him as the 3rd best from the Q a few weeks ago and McKeens had him at 11 back in Feb. But he was also 30th for Button, and TSN had him at 27. Hard to pinpoint, but he did score 40 goals. Not too shabby. I love his size and knack for the net when he scores. His highlight videos shows a fair number of his goals in close.

He certainly doesn't answer a need for us, but we have no idea what our need will be next year, let alone 3 seasons from now when he would likely be an NHL regular, if at all.

In the 18-22 range, where I see us picking, here's a few I'm interested in:

Zykov, Mantha, Horvat, Hagg, Gauthier, Lazar, Rychel, Petan, Mueller, Rychel,

LOL I guess I'm easily impressed!

I'd love to get a 2-way center or D with grit with this pick, but you gotta go BPA.

Yeah, I really like Zykov as well. I've heard him compared to Michael Ryder, he kind of reminds of Tarasenko with less skill or Kulemin thick, good skating, Russian tanks.

In that range I'm liking this group in no particular order.

Mantha, Lazar, Wennberg, Erne, Gauthier, Domi, Zykov, Hartman, Horvat, Bowey.

Domi not getting enough credit on this board. He is very talented and competitive. Reminds me of kadri.

Zykov and Mantha are also real good forward prospects.

I'm hoping Pulock falls to us haha. Pipedream I know. Otherwise I like Lazar, Gauthier, Erne, and Mantha. If one of those guys could fall to us that would be great.

20 percent of the first round in this draft is currently owned by two teams.

Lol

Pulock seems to be in freefall mode...

I highly doubt, but maybe he ends up lik Finn last year. I would Love a move up with our 2nd, if he fell past our first pick.

I love this kid, he reminds me of Del Zotto's fall in 2008, however he is still listed as #6 on Mckeen's Hockey on their rankings. Still it would be wishful thinking to have him fall to us. I would think you would have to get into the 15 range to have a shot at him. He's been playing hurt this year so I would not under sell him.

Is the only reason Jordan Subban is ranked outside the first round his size? I've seen him listed at 5'10" 165 lbs is that accurate? He's right handed and comes with a good pedigree. In his draft year was PK closer to his 6', 210 lbs that he is now or closer to Jordan's size? He seems like the perfect boom or bust pick. His numbers look impressive, but admittedly I have only seen him play one time.

In the 3rd round, if he's still on the board, I'd take him.

I see him in the same range. Saw him live at the top prospects game and he had a few good shifts but was utterly manhandled in his own zone. He really is small. I've got no problem drafting skill so long as size isn't an impediment but his definitely will be at the next level.

What's the consensus on F. Gauthier? His size makes him an intriguing prospect.

He'll probably be selected prior to the Leafs drafting(unless they trade up).

The only thing though, is he's a product of the Q. Those players are either hits or completely misses, and they are rarely 'tweeners.

The Jackets would be best served by moving one of those picks for a young player or prospect already NHL ready or very close. They can't afford to wait 2-3 more years on more prospects.

Where can I find the height and weight of players at the time they were drafted?

I dunno but I'd look for "draft combine results" for the year in question.

Where the leafs sit now, my target would be Curtis lazar. Havent seen a ton of him but from what I have I see a lot of mike Richards and Ryan o'riley. Would be a great pick in the high teens / low 20's

Agreed, seems to have erased those questions he had about his offense earlier in the season.

Have you watched him yourself?

If so, please describe what offensive skills he has improved lately. Just curious what his potential is.

I watched him a few times earlier, and he didn't look like he was creating much offensively, but lately I see that hi stats have increased significantly.

This would be fantastic for Toronto IMO. If we can snag Pulock it will be an awesome draft. Seems like he wants to play in Toronto too.

Fucale would be another one I'd be stoked about getting. Either him or Spencer Martin would be a nice add to our pitiful goaltending prospect depth.

Jarry/Martin/Fucale all good adds, martin might be available second or third too.

Still Ristolainen for me if he drops, but would like some of the centres or potentially dickinson.

Domi/Horvat/Gauthier/Mantha/Lazar all good targets.
