Nope. Possibly with an expensive Direct TV package or something, but nothing I've ever heard about.

Chris Stewart would be a great fit for the Maple Leafs, however I don't think this trade will ever come to fruition. The asking price will be too high, and Toronto has more pressing needs.

Well, now that panadora's box got opened:

What do the Blues realistically need to add to land Phaneuf? I'm a fan of the game he plays, and would love him beside Pietrangelo.

Love to have Stewart a Leaf but my guess is Dreger is just getting people warmed up for trade deadline day

Nothing. Without Phaneuf our D is:

Gunnarsson-Liles
Fraser-Franson
Holzer-Kosta

We are looking for a #2 d-man to aid Phaneuf, so the likelihood of him moving is extremely low. However, if he were to be moved, we'd be looking at a Backes + return. In short, it wouldn't be worth it from either sides.

Leafs can't afford to lose Phaneuf..what they need to do is replace the garbage players he has to play with.

So far with the Leafs he's never played with legit top pairing D besides Beauchemin and he too sucked in his stay in Toronto.

We've tried Aulie, Beauchemin, Komisarek, Schenn, Holzer, Kostka, etc etc.

Gunnarsson looked great with him but again...coach Carlyle strikes.

Leafs won't call up Gardiner and they have nobody to play with Phaneuf..it was funny to watch last night's game Phaneuf is -3 for no fault of his own, 2 goals against because of idiotic plays by Holzer, and one empty netter.

I can't imagine why Carlyle would want Holzer playing those minutes.

Not sure any team does that, particularly the Blues.

Gardiner will be up sooner or later but right now he isn't. There has to be a point in time when Holzer's stupidity won't be tolerated.

Cole and Phaneuf is the same as all the other options.

Stewart is leading their team in points.

Stewart for a top-4 defenceman or a playmaking center; that's it. Quality for quality trade, not Stewart for spare parts and picks.

And this is not directed at you but others in the thread who act as if the Blues want to trade him...Blues fans do not want to trade Stewart and I am hoping they can lock him up to a Oshie type of contract after this year.

STL fans were giving away Stewart last year for a bag of pucks.

Some STL fans wanted to see him gone. There was hardly a consensus on that matter.

Well Kulemin + Gunnarsson is pretty decent package.

If St.Louis values two-way big physical forwards that can play both sides and a top 4 reliable LHD defenseman.

It could be entirely possible that St.Louis values Stewart but just doesn't want to or can't pay his price tag next season so they are looking at getting some assets for him.

I wonder, does St.Louis have anyone that could fit in Stewart's spot if he was traded?

I would think Kulemin goes on the 3rd line and Gunnersson in their top 4 somewhere.

Gunnarsson + Kulemin for Stewart?

Gunnarsson can play with Pietrangelo. Kulemin replaces Stewart on the RW.

Kuli doesn't add anything that we don't have in spades. You want stewart - give up something that hurts.

I was one of the people most down on Stewart last year. Of course, just wanting him gone didn't mean I wanted to trade him for a bag of pucks. I openly hoped for a rebound for the Blues to sell high.

And you know what? If you want Stewart now it's gonna cost something major. Both the Blues and any team in the league potentially interested in acquiring Stewart via trade took a risk. Blues risk was that Stewart would not rebound and thus his value would definitely plummet. Interested teams (whichever they might've been) took a risk by not offering enough before his value made a major turnaround. Now it looks like last year was the anomaly, not this year (considering what he did the prior two years before the bad one).

Remind yourself, Chris Stewart was traded to the Blues in a major deal of major pieces. Armstrong is NOT going to trade the guy where he's clearly the best player in the deal. For the first time since his arrival in St. Louis, he's actually playing like a power forward because for the first time he's grinding on boardwork and physiaclly battling for pucks. Even if he loses a battle, the opposing player knows he's been there. That was not true last season, and not even consistently true at the start of this season. But now he's looking like he's figured out the hard work generates chances and he's converted enough of them to become confident, and when he plays a confident game he's pretty tough to stop. That's what we're seeing now. We're seeing a skilled player finally connect the dots between hard work and production. He also fights and is a team guy.

So unless you have a PPG center or at least a strong #2 defenseman in your offer, you took the risk of not being more aggressive trying to trade for him before the rebound. Regardless of what Blues fans would've taken in hypothetical trade proposals on these boards before, the situation has dramatically changed.
