Leafs played a solid 50 minutes... but then Pens noticed Holzer is a terrible defender and exposed him. It's not even sad or depressing that Holzer is in the NHL over Gardiner, it's just hilarious.

Liles had a great game and showed why he never should have been scratched anyways and especially over Kostka.

Leafs deserved a better fate tonight but then again, Holzer was playing on the top pair... so maybe not.

In Holzer's defense, what coach would have him out there in that situation? Carlyle is stubborn to the point of stupidity.

Second goal was clearly his fault. It's not the first time on an odd man rush he's done that either.. slowly floating backwards over towards Dion's side leaving his half of the ice wide open.

Need a real #2 dman, playing Rookies like Holzer against Crosby is just a recipe for disaster, ugh.

Last place? Many of us wish. Unfortunately, the Toronto Maple Leafs only lose in the worst way possible.

Problem with the Leafs is, they are too predictable. Do you think teams don't watch tape/video? Teams know that the only players that can do anything with the puck are Kadri and Kessel, teams know that you can dump the puck onto Holzer's side and know he won't be able to handle it. Team's know that Fraser while very solid defensively has know puck skills. Our offense has been shut because of lack of mobility from the backend, and I know how Carlyle wants to be tough, but you need to have tough guys that can play hockey. You can't play a Holzer 20 minutes a night and not expect mistakes. Bring up Gardiner, give Reilly a chance when his season is up, stick with Liles, and be able to generate offense from the backend. A good defense is a good offense, and having Gardiner, Liles, and Reilly mixed with Phaneuf, Fraser and Franson gives a balance of offense and size. Goaltending isn't the issue, the forwards aren't the issue. It's starts with the six defensemen.

I'm not even upset. When Ottawa scored that goal with 20 seconds, I was devastated.. But we're the Leafs again, these things happen to us.

Nice to see Gardiner contributed to a 2-1 win for the Marlies today. Meanwhile Holzer contributed in us losing the game being solely responsible for two goals.

My Carlyle prediction for tonight when asked about Holzer, "HEY NOW I SUPPORT HOLZER, HE WILL FOREVER BE IN THE LINEUP. JAKE GARDINER ISN'T READY, HOLZER IS."

It pisses me off that others are blaming others than holzer.

we didn't produce many quality offensive chances.

Kulemin was put with Kadri and how much quality offensive chances did he create? 0

Holzer Holzer Holzer yada yada yada... You gotta have more than 1 on the board if you want to beat the Pens. Plain and simple.

Heartbreaking, but they played a solid game. Lupul hopefully will be back next game. It's a definite must win against the Jets saturday. Now we're battling for 7-8 spot.

Forwards can't just play in the offensive zone and wave when the Penguins are on the attack.

Played a solid 50 minutes I thought. Holzer is no match for Crosby.

If they play like they played tonight for that first 50 minutes on Saturday the Jets won't have a chance. For the most part this was an inspired comeback from a bad few games. That was a great game for most of it.......and then they Leafed it all up I hate that I love watching Crosby so much at times like this.

Top 10 draft pick here we come
**** it, I was on the Tank train early this season the leafs pulled me off for a good 3 weeks. It felt good cheering and hoping the team would win. But now its that time of year again. The time that we've all been experiencing ever since Sundin left. If we lose 6 more straight Mackinnon might be in reach! I don;t mind winning the next 6 either though....

I'm not saying trade away the future, or trade away a 1st rounder or anything, but I want Nonis to do something at the deadline. This team needs a shake-up.

We can't even ease this close losses into overtime FFS. That's how Ottawa is where they are, go to a shootout every night.

This place is so doom and gloom after a loss.... Gahhhhhh!!!!!! The season's OVER!!!!!!!!!

My Gods, folks. Our team outplayed one of the best teams in the league for a good portion of this game. Dominated for stretches. If the best ****ing hockey player in the world isn't on the ice, we win that 9/10.

I'm enocouraged by the effort, and really liked that Liles tried to make a statement tonight with his opportunity. I'm through witb Kostka. Keep Liles.
