Need help: info on FLA lease

There seems to be many people thinking the Panthers could end up in Quebec city in the summer. I am not one of those.

I do know some 18 years are left to the lease. It seems this lease can cease under special conditions.

Anybody know what are those special conditions? Is there a link somewhere we can read this stuff? My goal is to explain to some people why its impossible to see the Panthers end up in Qc land, because I simply do not believe it.

Thanks for your help.

Franchise/civic bankruptcy or total destruction of arena are about the only ways Bettman/NHL would allow Florida (or any team with valid lease) to leave.

Only two NHL franchises do not have a "long term" lease at the moment: Phoenix (year to year since bankruptcy) and Detroit (expired a few years ago, negotiating new arena deal/lease). (NY Islanders current one expires soon, but they have a new one in Brooklyn. Edmonton's lease is also coming up on expiration of term, but they too are working on new deal.)

The Panthers' ownership has historically made about $9m/yr profit over the past decade from non-hockey events at the arena.

They seemingly have the ability to stomach, with this cushion, losses on the Panthers until the club is potentially able to turn its' finances around and become itself profitable, or at least break even.

Not sure who is claiming the Panthers would or could move to Quebec City this summer, but I'd suggest they aren't too familiar with the reality of the situation.

I already knew all that. Don't try to convince me. I know they won't move.

What I want is specific info on the lease contract itself, the clauses, any info on the document itself.

Why go out of your way to dissuade people who are delusional?

Since the group that owns the arena also owns the Panthers, I'm not sure what you're going to find exactly in terms of a lease document. These aren't public companies who would disclose such things.

Broward county owns the arena. They certainly don't own the panthers

florida is locked in, barring a team bankruptcy like in phoenix.

There is only one portable franchise in the NHL right now, phoenix, since NYI locked themselves into brooklyn.

Lease with Broward County expires July 2028

Here's a document from a few years back that may give some hints as to the lease. Its some report about how the arena operating company (which is owned by the Panthers) contributed more than their net income to the Panthers in certain years, and that money should have been returned to the operating company in order to maintain its abilities to meet its responsibilities to the county.

If you're really interested in the lease. You can buy it for $35:

If you do buy it, send me a copy. I'd be interested in having a look
