Just happened to be in the Oiler's thread, and most still believe their 13th place team can make the playoffs. Don't see much of that optimism here in fragile city.
Almost 50+ years of futility will do that to a fan base.

Plus their cruel and unusual collapses will turn you bitter even if they didn't have 50 years of failure behind them.

Well... another loss. But I kind of felt like five points out of WPG-TB-BUF would be sufficient. We're gonna lose back-to-back against the Bruins anyways.

So if we can put together a two-game winning streak (lol is it still called a streak if it's just two wins?) we should be OK.

Yes. And yes our (would be) best defenseman is playing for the Marlies right now.

Isn't life great?

Too early to call it a collapse. In the 5 games, 3 of them were against the cream of the crop in the east (Bos and Pit x 2) and competed well. They played one bad game and 15 mins of the 2nd tonight.

The next 2 games, will be the telling sign.

What's beyond irritating with people like you isn't your mind-numbingly baseless optimism, it's the smugness that the rest of us are idiots because of our legitimate concerns.

Newsflash: 5 losses in a row at this juncture in the season is a major blow. No the season isn't over yet but we've taken a huge hit and we need to snap out of this funk immediately.

Hopefully this is the losing streak that usually happens at the end of the season.

Shootout looses don't count in my eyes. They have lost 3 and tied 2.

3 points in 5 games. that's not good, but it's not horrendous.

The collapse may not be showing on the standings yet, but this is yet another game TO has allowed 4 goals in a game.... That's like 5/6 games in a row the Leafs have allowed 4 or more.

TO was so ****ing lucky tonight however I will be surprised if TO is still in a playoff spot on Wednesday when they play the Lightning.

We have 2 points in 5 games. Pretty much the same thing.

Every year it seems the same.

They say clam down, nothing to worry about, then they disappear when they are wrong. It always best to wait until it is too late, when you are dumb.We have 18 games left, some against Boston,so those are automatic losses. If it wasn't for Lupul,we lose that one last night easy. Our best possible outcome is finishing 8th right now and that is if we are lucky.

The leafs are 2 points behind Ottawa for 5th, not sure that ranking is reason to panic. I can't imagine Leafs fans would have been disappointed if in September someone had told you that is where you be in March.

It's definitely on. Again, they can't beat the Jets. Also, if they have no more skill at forward and they feel forced to put out Phaneuf and Franson on shootouts, they are in deep trouble.

I think it's actually 2 points.

2 points out of a possible ten is the carbon copy defi-****ing-nition of "horrendous".

Ridiculous sentiment.

This team has not over the past years given us any foundation of confidence on which to stand on, in times of trouble.

They are getting what they have earned of their fan base.

Although collapse might be the wrong word, more like a settling in to what they really are and thats a fringe PO team, IF it gets tending in the .915 sv % range and a bottom 5 without the tending.
