They say you draft a player to see what he can do in 5 years. In Ladd's case it took closer to 7 years. And maybe a bit more to make sure it wasn't a flash in the pan.
How can a Top-4 draft pick take so long to develop offensively? Usually when you wait 5+ years and the offense isn't there at the NHL level, it isn't there forever...
I thought he was projected to be a powerforward, not sniper. In any case, it seems like he was rushed, it wasn't until he was traded to Chicago that he really started to find his groove/timing, whatever you want to call it.
Past 2yrs, he has been just shy of 30 goals, but being on a Thrasher/Jets team that really doesn't have a legit #1 center, he's done insanely well. It seems like he's been around forever and he's just 27yrs old. He's in his prime years.
