Bozak, Mac, Liles, and Komi gone...while we somehow end up with Ryan Clowe, Dubinsky and Picks. Somehow. You figure that one out lol

I am convinced and will only be happy IF:

1) We upgrade and not deplete the future (i.e Gardiner, Picks, high end prospects)
2) Gain Future assets for our players and remain competitive this year. (i.e Grabovski/Bozak/MacArthur for picks, prospects - The hole is filled internally [not all those players gone])

Both don't NEED to happen, but if a significant trade happens and it doesn't follow these guidelines I would not be too happy.

I think Liles is gone before the trade deadline.

CMac is a pending UFA who will command at least what he's currrently getting paid but probably closer to 4 per year on a multi year deal. That isn't an investment, Nonis should do.

So it boils down to:

A. 20 or so regular season games + whatever playoff games of CMac

Or

B. An asset like a 2nd round pick that Nonis if drafted is controllable for 7 pro years OR much more importantly can be used directly or indirectly (by allowing Nonis to trade a current prospect) by Nonis in a package for a C or RD upgrade. Plus trading CMac would allow our players who'll be with the team after this year like Komarov and Frattin to get more NHL minutes to learn from.

Toronto is just becoming a playoff team now isn't the time to go all in.

I also wouldn't be opposed to trading Bozak if he isn't inked by understand why he wouldn't be because of how poor the team is at center.

Keeping Cmac for a playoff run isnt going all in at all. He wont be traded for futures.

Trade Liles for a 2nd

Trade CMac for a 2nd

Trade Connolly for a 4th (conditional 3rd) like the Lombardi trade

That will give Nonis 3 2nd round picks and 3 4th round picks (but potentially 3rds) at the draft to continue stocking the system or to use in trades.

1. Yeah, Sure

2. No, keep the forward depth for the playoffs

3. Yeah. Apparently teams have asked about Connolly so.

All-in might be a bit dramatic of a term to use but it's definitely short-sighted.

CMac won't be the difference between us making or not making the playoffs but he could be a valuable piece in helping us with depth down the road.

Ask yourself how many players of any value that the Blackhawks, Pens, Bruins have lost as UFAs?

It's very few so why should a team that is only a borderline playoff team be losing assets for nothing.

Obviously hes the most "available", but any idea where? If i were a betting man, which i am, I'd probably say Detriot would make the most sense. Any others?

Not much trade value when someone isnt playing and hasnt played in weeks. No idea what the Leafs are thinking. Kostka and Holzer should be in the minors.

I don't think Clark MacArthur will be traded, he plays a good two way game and I think he is a favorite of Carlyle's, he even had the "A" this year, he also plays well with Kadri and I think he will be re-signed.

Funny how a hot streak suddenly makes CMac untradeable, even though just prior to that the majority of people wanted to trade him.

What's the best time to trade a player? During a hot streak when their trade value is higher or during a cold streak? During a cold streak seems like a knee jerk reaction that brings in a lower return.

Ultimately we've been doing pretty well this season, Frattin just came back from injury, and Lupul is on his way. Subtract CMac and add Frattin+Lupul, that doesn't sound like the team is sacrificing it's playoff chances this year if MacArthur gets moved.

Sounds more like they're selling a pending UFA non-core piece from a position of organizational strength during deadline deal sky-high prices / a hot streak that has upped his value a little bit.

I feel like Dallas may be a surprisingly good fit, they could use another top four dman.

If Healthy and ready to play,do we pick up the RH dman Montador?

Holzer needs to shuffle down in the lineup or head back for some seasoning. Montador may be the free pick up, that plays some sturdy D on the right side. Randy has coached him in the past.

I'd say Colorado, Detroit and Minnesota are the the strongest suiters at this point followed by the Blues who may have more interest in Gunnarsson.
