What do you think? Carlyle is ridiculous! Even in the games where they were losing 5-1 with 5 minutes to go he was sending out Orr's and McLarens .

That's how he won a cup. He was going to beat you one way or the other, either on the scoreboard, physically, or in many cases both.

The Ducks team that won the Cup in 07 with Carlyle behind the bench was really tough.

Shawn Thornton
George Parros
Brad May
Travis Moen

And they had a tough/gritty supporting cast of Sean O'Donnell, Chris Pronger, and Francois Beauchemin. Hell, Getzlaf and Perry weren't even afraid to get involve.

And earlier in the season they had Todd Fedoruk and Shane O'Brien.

Are you kidding? Out of all the teams in the last EIGHT years you think this Leafs team is the most goonish? Talk about short term memory...

Leafs are pretty dirty...but no complaints, it makes the habs and leafs games that much more exciting. Keep gooning it up leafs!

It's hockey. There's 60 minutes in a game. Not 55. Even if it's 10-0. He can send out whomever he wants.

Leafs may fight but they are easily one of the cleanest teams in the league. We don't embellish or go for dirty hits.

Losing 5-1 with 5 minutes to go, that's when you're supposed to be rolling out your 4th line.

2007 Anaheim was at least as goonish, and a much better team to boot.

Punching Kane? I gotta question what you saw there. Holzer, sticking up for his teammates, dropped the gloves with Kane, Kane backed away and that was that - until Bogosian came storming in.

There was really no goonery tonight whatsoever. Very, very strange timing for this thread.

That's what you're supposed to do when you're getting beat down, not get down on your knees and say "thank you sir, may I have another?" like the Rangers do.

Meh. It takes two to tangle. If randy sends out Orr to fight he usually challenges his opponent or they challenge him. It's not like he is running around like chara jumping people :p

They're definitely not the Bruins. No blatant attempts to injure, far less scrums after the whistle; Just enforcers generally fighting other enforcers/4th-liners and getting after people if they feel they're taking liberties with their teammates. I have no problem with enforcers in the game in that sense, they're keeping it clean more than anything. There's a difference between sending enforcers out at the end of the game to send the message that you're not rolling over (ex. engaging at the faceoff) and sending them out there with the intent to injure (ex. running the goalie to start the fight).

Whatever you say. I'm sure Kane wanted to take himself off the ice for 5 minutes to teach a goon a lesson.

How was Holzer sticking up for him teammates by trying to fight Kane? Did I miss Kane run someone before that? For the record I'm not complaining, Kane handled it fine and I have no problem with players trying to get under his skin. It's going to happen regardless of who they're playing.

The Leafs fight. a lot. But if you're talking "goonish" as in taking liberties/giving cheap shots, I hardly see it.

But yes, we do dress a lot of heavies if that's what you mean.

For a large stretch of games we had: Orr, Brown, McLaren, Fraser dressed every night hahaha. We were winning too.

I went to a local hockey game and the home team was down,

there were so many fights in the third period that the other team forfeited because they ran out of players.
